Great area. If you are on Magnetic, you also have accessto Gunflint, Little Gunflint, and North Lake. All are good Lake trout lakes. I have used a three way to get down 30-50 feet and trolled a silver Rapala. I have also jigged an airplane jig and a blue and silver Ratlin Rap with great success. I prefer Fireline for the jigging since it has no stretch. Just a reminder to watch the imaginary line down the middle of the lakes and stay off the Canada side if you don’t have a Canadian license.

You should also be able to to well on Smallmouth and Walleyes on those lakes. Walleyes will be shallower than you’d expect. For walleyes that time of year a great option is to just slowly paddle along the shorelines dragging a spinner with a crawler or leech in 12 FOW or less. The edges of the shallow rocky points are always awesome for walleyes as well. GOOD LUCK!
