Prayers for Avery

My daughter Avery was diagnosed with Epilepsy in June of 2007. Since then, she had a rough 1st year with frequent seizures, while adding and changing medication along the way. The good news is, she has been nearly seizure free since last July. Recently the Dr. asked for some extensive bloodwork done, and DNA testing to check for genetics relating to her Epilepsy. The test’s came back positive for a gene abnormality related to Severe Epilepsy. These are seizures that medications cannot control. This does not mean she has it, but means she could develop it. Each person’s Epilepsy is different, and we hope her seizures will continue to be controlled by medication. Some people carry this same abnormality and have never had a seizure. My wife and I are being tested for this as well.

Please keep her in your prayers.

God Bless you and your daughter! She is definetly a keeper! We went through a very similar challenge about 12 years ago with our youngest. Doctors told us her seizures would probably not be controlled by meds and we would have to try other options, but one doctor found a combination of meds that did the trick and she has been mostly under control for the last 11 years. When she was 2-3 years old she was having 20 to 150 seizures each and every day, with four different varieties of seizures identified. Since the drugs began to work, she has had less than one seizure a week, usually much less. Our prayers will remain with you Hookem9, please keep us up to date!

    Brian,
Mom and I put Avery on the prayer list at church this morning. You know Avery has a special place in grandma and grandpa’s hearts, as do you & Deb. Mom and I are proud of how you & Deb have handled yourselves and stayed steady thru this. In the last 3 1/2 years we have all gone thru more than any family should have to endure in a lifetime and we are still holding on to our faith and hope. Keep up the good work. We pray daily for you guys.
    Love, Dad
I am also thankful for all of the IDO’ers and their prayers.

I’ve often heard, and truly believe, that the trials one faces in life are proportionate to the magnitude and strength of ones ability to benefit the Lord’s master plan!
Hang in there, we’re still praying for you all!
