My daughter Avery was diagnosed with Epilepsy in June of 2007. Since then, she had a rough 1st year with frequent seizures, while adding and changing medication along the way. The good news is, she has been nearly seizure free since last July. Recently the Dr. asked for some extensive bloodwork done, and DNA testing to check for genetics relating to her Epilepsy. The test’s came back positive for a gene abnormality related to Severe Epilepsy. These are seizures that medications cannot control. This does not mean she has it, but means she could develop it. Each person’s Epilepsy is different, and we hope her seizures will continue to be controlled by medication. Some people carry this same abnormality and have never had a seizure. My wife and I are being tested for this as well.
Please keep her in your prayers.
