lowrance shorting out / any solutions

    I am having a problem with my Lowrance shorting out. I turn the front unit on and when i step on the trolling motor it shuts off. It does this for awhile. After this I can not turn the unit on unless I am standing on the juice for the trolling motor. After I let off it turns off. Again this goes for awhile. Then all of a sudden it turns on and stays on and I have no prolems until I crank the big motor to run back up river.

    Anybody has a solution besides re-wiring the whole unit.

    It almost sounds like you have a voltage problem, I would check the voltage on the unit and see if it drops when you hit the TM. If it does it probably is an undercharged battery or one with a bad cell.

    Things to check/verify

    1) Good Ground

    2) Proper size gage wire to unit

    3) Battery is prperly charged

    4) Bad cell in Battery and not delivering the amps the unit needs

    What the others said or possibly the flux capacitor.
