Interesting to hear. The seminar at MNBFN meeting earlier this month talked about Hummingbird having a patent on technology as it attaches to the boat.

I wonder if lowrance has anything to doing with Klein. Same father company?? Their screen shots are the same color….a little more detailed but who knows. They have been making commercial grade towfishes for a while.

    Cool KLEIN screen shots….

I heard that all hds units have the sidescan in them already, but you need a software upgrade to unlock it, is that why they have been holding back the upgrade that allows you to use the new navonics chips? I also heard that you will need a new transducer for 600$, so lets do the math 1200$ for the 7 inch model, plus the transducer upgrade your sitting at right around 2000$ for a side scan unit with a screen that isnt even 7 inches, right? sounds to me like Id be better off with the nine inch or the 11 inch humminbird for that price. I have a 797 now and trust me when useing sidescan you want the biggest screen you can get. I will still be getting a hds but Im just a little dissapointed with the price tag, ya its new tech but the price suck. You can buy a broad band sounder for 600$ or you can buy a 5 inch sonar unit with broadband technology biuld in for 550$, what a scan. Lets just pray these work.
