Restaurant question – Anoka?

Maybe one of you on here can help me out……

A couple of years ago, I was down in Anoka, I think…..not sure ? …….. There was a restaurant attached to the hotel – and their specialty was steak “on the rock”. They would deliver a steak to the table along with a 700 degree piece of stone….. You cooked your own steak on that rock, right at the table.

Does anybody have any idea of where the heck I was? I would like to go back there, but it is tough when I can’t remember the name of the place, or even what dang town it was in!!!!

I believe you are talking about the restaurant that took over the Tequilaberry’s site. I am pretty sure it has since changed hands again. Last time I was there it was just another sports bar. It is in Coon Rapids, right off Cty 10 by Northtown.

    Thanks Dan….HWY 10 sounds familiar…..

My memory of all things city-related is horrid. I dislike it down there so much, I guess my mind blocks it all out… or the numerous green beers we swilled had some effect…….lol.

That is a bummer – as I wanted to go there and cook a steak that way on my next trip down. I only get down there about 1 time every 3 yrs or more, so when I do, I like to try something new…….

Thanks much! That is the one.

Looking forward to doing that….I guess it takes very little to entertain a smalltown boy…..

First time I saw Ugly was in Austin TX a few years ago, although a southern girl’s hospitality can’t be matched, it is sure fun watching a Minnesota girl try.

Here is an old post about this place.

Rapids Bar and Grill in Coon Rapids

We stopped in for a and apps one night and we weren’t overly impressed but we didn’t try the wings or the steak.

By the way, it doesn’t seem that long ago that someone around here was practicing his Coyote Ugly moves. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist)

to those of you that cant afford “that Coyote Stuff”–
    like fun just stop into the Red ROOSTER in Genola Mn, thats 1/2 mile out of Pierz –south on #25–;;
we have know this group of owners for years, you get more than just a drink there– if John is there he will fit a quarter inside a beer bottle, card tricks you have never seen!! and has more info than just 1 person can handle at a time– and your side food orders are usually more than you can eat

    there down to earth people

besides that they have a talkig deer that answers back and sings to you- after a couple Jose CUERVO’S you will be talking back to it

thought id toss in a pix of the owner and bar tender talking to the HEAD

the only place i know of in Anoka is the Canyon Grill right next to a hotel– if someone can dig up Inspector Gadget on a site, hes a co owner and friend–
they have a grand place, wines of all sorts, a cook that grills in the open for you with special woods, etc

I’ve got to try that steak at Rapids some time, it looked and smelled great.

They still have the $0.25 wings on Mondays. (Beer was $2.50 a Pint).

Early evening is safe to bring the family as its quiet, but I think they are starting a Karaoke contest Monday nights.

Kooty, you can sing and dance now.
