The end of that race was like “kissing your sister”!!! The way NASCAR finished that race is like watching a whole soccer match (or a hockey game) and having it end on a free kick. As you can tell I am not a fan on the finish of that race.

I was not happy how that ended either but the weather radar was calling for rain until approx. 0300. Kenseth got a break today for an easy win.

    I say congrats to Matt!

A win is a win, ya there were better cars out there but he put himself in the right position to win, with a little help from Happy . They should cut the pre-race junk, then they could of had time, personal thing.

I’m not a 88 fan but I don’t think that was all on him. I think Vickers slowed and Jr caught and spun him. It was a racing deal. I for one was glad to see Jr get agressive, little bit like the old man.

I agree on the prerace stuff…..getting to be too much. If they would have cut all that crap, they could have started the race earlier, and avoided the rain being a factor.

As far as 88, He did a good job trying to overcome some pit row errors, and they were all driving hard to get in place in case of the rain. I also think Vickers was as much at fault, he had no business dropping down on a car coming up at a high speed if he couldn’t cut in ahead of him, and maintain proper speed to stay ahead of him. And you can’t fault JR for trying to get back in line. We’ve seen them get caught in these situations, it’s a part of racing hard to win.

That was a 100 percent Jr…. and he should have been penalized but he’s Jr so they didn’t…

JR had a good run on Vickers, there was no need for him to come down and force Jr down. Jr knew it was time to go with the weather comming in, it’s called RACING.

    Congrats to Matt

As far as JR, as usual, there are two sets of rules, one for him, and one for everybody else, he should have been penalized 5 laps just like in the nationwide race

“he lost control on the way back up” give me a break, he caused the wreck 100 %, what Vickers did was well within the rules, Jr just did not like it

Brett Favre never got a break either did he??? When you are the most popular race car driver in the sport…. Sorry, life isn’t fair. Rookies aren’t treated the same at veterans. You start a new job, you are not treated the same at the guy who has been with the same company 20 years. Life is not fair.

They were both racing very hard and 180+ mph it doesn’t take much to cause an accident. Maybe Vickers shouldn’t have slowed down then Jr wouldn’t have gotten into him?? With that huge run, Vickers was going to cause an accident by pulling out in front of him either way. Pretty tough to slow down that line as quickly as Vickers attempted to. What he did was legal, but was it considered proper etiquette??

I’m not a race fan but did see the final 75 (errr 27 Laps ) Isn’t that comparable to ending the superbowl after 3 quarters? I don’t get it. Golf they finish the next day, tennis,,etc.. WHy would they not finish the next day? I know I know,it would be a mess from a network and fan standpoint but if it’s about the sport then they should have to finish it. IMHO

    Congrats to Kenseth!
I’m not a big fan of Vickers, and I hate blocking! Vickers noticed Jr coming with a full head of steam and tried to block him, well blocking is when you get IN FRONT of the car trying to pass you. Jr had a fender on him, and in the process of passing him, and Vickers ran into him, and ran him off the track. Thats not racing, not even close. And the post interview with Vickers complaining about Jr. racing to hard with 70 laps to go, well how would you discribe your actions then Vickers?

I always hate to see them end due to rain, especially the Daytona 500! Matt and the rest of the top 5 were very lucky, had they raced to the end more then likely none of them would have been top 5. IMHO

As far as JR goes,,, I think Vickers cut him off and it looks like JR paid him back and several others got bit. Blame them both but Vickers started the whole string of events, cut someone off for the lucky dog pass?!

As usual the JR Nation is a bit delusional… AGAIN!!!

The whole day start to finish was a mess for JR and company.

At best this was a big boo-boo for JR….

How about if this would have happened to Junior???

I’m thinking some of the opinions would be just a tad different….

You might not recall what Jr said after Bush wrecked him last year with a few laps to go in Richmond I believe. In typical Bush fashion he blamed Jr.

I think JR thought Vickers was on the lead lap when he had the interview, I don’t think he realized they were both racing for the lucky dog. Had the shoe been on the other foot, there is no doubt JR would have done the excact thing Vickers did. I’m still not impressed with JR, Bush is a winer, and smoke is a hot head.
