The FW wants to switch from Comcast to Dish Network. Its cheaper by $60/month but I am not sure of the the dish thing. Anyone have any problems with it in the Albertville area. I am not a big change person

I’ve got both Comcast and Dish, and IMHO, get rid of the Comcast. Only problems I’ve had with Dish was having a couple trees blocking the dish, and 2 times in the last 2 years, dropping signal in very strong T storms.

If you have a clear southern exposure, you can’t go wrong.

I’m not in the same area as you, but I can tell you that Dish has been good to me for almost 10 years now. They’ll tell you that you’ll lose reception whenever there’s a storm. Don’t buy it. Once in a while we’ll get a strong storm that’ll block our signal, but it’s very seldom and usually pretty short lived, too. The Dish is the only way to go, in my opinion.

5 years ago we switched from our local cable to Dish and couldn’t be happier. We just moved 1 1/2 months ago and took our dish with us. I’d say take the savings.

I switched from Comcast to DirecTV a few months ago and have been very happy, aside from the half-arsed job the installer did. But the actual TV service has been great when compared to cable.

For DISH!! We switched a couple years ago to save $60 a month too. Sure glad we did. We got a package deal through the phone company. DSL, Home phone, and DISH all on one bill. Made things a little easier.

Something to consider I guess if you are also thinking about the satelite internet connection – Pricy!!! I looked into it for our farm to replace our only option of dial up. For the (2)bricks of gold they wanted to add their least cost internet option, we kept with dial up.

I have the dish at my farm and I am very happy with it. Lost signal much less than Direct TV when I had that

What do the rest of you guys use for a internet connection that are on Dish net work? My problem is that my wife needs a good & fast internet connection as she works from home. When it comes to internet we have not been able to find anything better than cable. We get phone, cable TV, & internet from charter cable, 10 meg it is fast but pricie.

My internet is DSL through the phone line. It’s faster than the cable internet in my area.

I just dropped charter TV and went with the dish. I still have the charter high speed internet. The price didn’t change. It is expensive with or without the TV package. I don’t have a home phone line so I didn’t have that total package deal.

We would not have a land line either except that my wife has to have one for work so I think we are stuck. I am afraid that if I went with a dish and charter for internet and phone I would probably pay about the same or more than I am now. I have to call them every time the bill goes up about once a year and haggle with them for a better price, at least this way we have it now every thing is on one bill.

Steve, can you get a wireless signal where you are at ??? We were first told by Citiscape, when they came out to do a site survey, that we could not get wireless because of poor reception. Were in the woods and down the hill Lots of trees. I hired a private company to put up a 50′ tower (less than $1000) and now my wireless internet at home is faster than my internet at work !!! My work internet is pretty fast, but it can’t compare to my wireless

We have DirectTv and like others said, I can tell you 5 minutes before a huge storm is approaching from the south Otherwise, I love my DirectTv It is bundled with Quest Phone.

If you have the option for a DVR, go for it. You’ll wonder how you got by without one.

Dish Network has been ver good for reception.Although I have had them over 10 years & seen quite a number of so called pkg upgrades & price hikes with them as well.Want to say I had top 100 @$19.99 which was more than Charter had to offer at the time for over $30.00 a month. Then Dish Net. upgraded to top 120 for $24.99 & top 150 for $29.99 then +$+$+$ now just received the new classic silver 200 with the new increase of $3.25 for a total of $ 57.73 with 1 extra receiver @ $5.00 & outdoor channel @ $1.99 & taxes. So I have yet to figure out in which of these upgrades have I actually got any of these extra channels worth watching? Extra shopping & music channels. Adding this to the ATT phone & DSL billing of $63.00,for a total of over $120.00 month.Charter has been running their promo deal for around $70.00 for all 3 services, but what is the final $ cost after that 1st year & how fast are the internet speeds? Doing some comparison shopping here now as well! It doesnt seem to matter who you have when they want to give you an upgrade just take it. Service can be huge as well & I will say 0 problems with Dish Net.Can only remember a couple of times when it was real ugly out we had no service.

We just made the call this evening, DISH will be hooked up on Thu. Dropping DirectTV the minute Dish hooks up. Direct wouldn’t give the same deal they give new customers…SEE YA! 8 years of paying bills on time means nothing to them, I gave the retention dept the option, give us a new deal or we’ll switch…even after three different calls their “deal” wasn’t that good.

It’s funny how they’ll give great deals to new customers but not the ones that have paid 8 years worth of bills, on time, every time.

Dish it is! Silver package, locals, HD reciever, DVR.

Only thing that irks me about dish is they can’t seem to bring me my local TV stations in HD… So I have to watch all the NFL games and a lot of basketball through what looks like a beer bottle. HD rocks.

My suggestion would be to not enjoy so much brew while watching sports or at least limit it to one at a time!
