Looking for recomendations for a “hand held GPS”. Easy to use, in-expensive. Want to use it for ice fishing. Must have Wisconsin Lakes. Thanks in advance. Earlybird.

    Earlybird,

I too have been researching the handheld GPS topic.
Check out the Outdoor Gear forum. Seems like alot of
folks are using the Lowrance H2Oc unit, which I will probably be getting too. As far as Wisconsin Lake maps, you may have to get a map chip to get you what you want. By the time you have the GPS and the chip it might not be what some people would call cheap; all depends on your priorities. Might be able to find a “used” chip for sale on the classifieds to save some coin.

You might wanna look into a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx with a LakeMaster chip. Had a Garmin etrex venture for many years till I made the move.

Go with the Lowrance H20c model. It’s hand held, durable, waterproof, and easy to use.

This is true, but it will most likely be your last purchase. I have the B&W one, but if I were to do it again, I’d buy the color unit.

I have upgraded to GPS/Finder from Lowrance, and love it.

The WI Lakemaster chip will be about $100 new, but look for a used one too.

Here is a link for the WI LakeMaster chip.

(There is another chip out there, but I don’t know anything about it.)

Well if no one else is going to give Jolly Ann Marine a plug I will. Check out Wade’s prices first, then skip the trip to the stores price shopping because I know Jolly Ann will beat the stores best “sale” price. Free shipping and great customer service. Still love my H20C!

Good post, Saumy! I forgot to post that. The rumors are true…the best price, and service will come from Jolly Ann

PS: I’m just a former customer.

Again thanks to those that replied to “hand held GPS”. The H20c and the XOG are discontinued units. Lowrance has three new units coming out in May to replace these discontinued units. Guess I’ll wait till then to purchase.

The H2Oc’s are still available so if you need help finding
    one let us know.

Also plenty of used ones out there.
