Personally, I cant get enough of the stuff! Good Jerky to me is what a fine Cuban would be to a Cigar smoker. My humidor would be a little room full of all different kinds of dried goodies.
A couple of my favorites are some homemade Goose Jerky I have worked on for a couple years and The regular Beef Jerky from Ready Meats in Nordeast Mpls.

So, lets hear ’em what are your favorite places to get the stuff and what are your best recipes?

    Good chewing!!

any meat, with good spice, (secret is doing it all in my 3’x5’x4′ smoker). I usually only get one peice before my three sons have it all eaten. I usually buy high mountain jerky mixes. they are good and easy.

Some people like that Von Hansen’s stuff, or the Jack Link’s…..but to me, that is like buying from Walmart. More convenient that good.

If you want the real deal, go to Greg’s Meat’s in Hampton.
He has “National Champion Beef Jerky”, which means he was in a national contest amongst butchers and sausage makers and took 1st place!
In other words, according to the Nation, he’s got the best!

    Best of the best!

I make my own too. Use a lean ground beef, jerky seasoning from Fleet Farm, Gander or whereever, dehydrator for about 14 hours. I make 5 pounds at a time. I just have a cheap dehydrator from fleet farm (40.00). I’ve got a jerky blaster gun that shoots 2 pieces at once. I like to kick it up with a bunch of extra cayenne pepper. That tends to keep some of the kids away from it too.

Lou’s in Two Harbors. Two Rivers Meats in Spooner.

Per Gary, Greg’s is also one of my picks.

Pat’s Meat Market, Arcadia, WI. Award winning jerky, and beer sticks. They have great jerky, but also have to try either the Long Toms or the Fat Pats, both excellant! They also have great smoked bacon, hams, they make their own head cheese, hot dogs, bratwurst…..the list goes on.
