where is the best place to get wave wackers, or another brand of the same thing?
what is everyone’s brand preference for these?
and of course if anyone has any used ones for sale that will go on an Alumacraft.

I would recommend you check out Brian Berle and Whitecap MFG!
I would venture a guess that most of the splash guards used by IDO folk are Whitecaps. Brian does great work at a very reasonable price! Whitecap Contact Info.

Wallster ><((((>
I have Whitecaps as well.. Called in the order, picked them up and had them installed the same night by ME in about 45 minutes.
Are White Caps an IDO sponsor?
I really don’t know. I quit backtrolling 13 years ago when a boat design engineer explained to me why the bow of a boat is pointed!
Since then the only few times I went backtrolling, I was in a YarCraft 2095 BTX which is the driest designed tiller boat on the market today, and splash gaurds, while nice to have, really aren’t neded.
Yup, talk to Brian at WhiteCap. I really do think they’re a superior product.
I’m on my 4th set (ya I know, I need to get a boat and stick with it) and they have been a necessity to stay dry with. They install easily and securely, and are virtually unbreakable.
Even though people look at me funny down here in NE when I backtroll, I don’t care. I’ve got WhiteCaps, so I stay dry!
To answer your original question!
Wave Wackers are made and sold by Herrick Enterprises, and they are located in St. Louis Park, Mn..
Also to address your original question, Brian uses CAD data for your particular boat to provide optimum fit. Just let him know if you plan on a kicker or transom mounted trolling motor and he will hook you up.
I have Wave Wackers on my boat and have been very impressed. I have also heard good things about Whitecaps.
I just called Wave Wackers and talked with one of the owners and they got me set up with Wackers for my Yar Craft 2095 Tiller. They told me they go to the boat show every year and measure all of the new boats so they have the exact dimensions needed for the Wave Wackers. They then keep an inventory of all the different sizes so they can easily get a set made when someone calls.
Needless to say I would recommend talking to the Herrick’s at Wave Wackers. I don’t have firsthand experience with Whitecap but as I said I’ve heard good things about them.

i’m just running the big motor when backtrolling. i don’t backtroll a ton, but i like having the splash guards just to keep the water out of the back of boat on windy wavy days when anchored, or when fishing on the river and dealing with cruiser waves all day.
not necessity, just more of a luxury is all. so price is obviously going to be a factor.
does whitecaps offer an IDO discount since they are a sponsor?
I’ve got the Wave Wackers and I love them.
My experience is the best thing you can do is contact them directly and order right from them. They’ll get all the necessary info and send you out a set of perfectly fitted splash guards in short order.
