OK I am thinking of heading into the market for a new truck(with a bed this time) an d maybe getting aq topper for it eventually as taking the dogs around in the blazer stinks and the kids are cramped. let me know what you drive and how you like it. keep in mind I figure a short box and extended cab as 3 kids and the wife in the truck for trips to the cabin and such.

    thanks-

Don’t own, one, but I would be looking at F 150 or 250. Driven plenty of both, and have all the room you would need. I think you should get it in pink too.

Ford F150 V8 4×4. We have three with tons of miles on them for the business. Very few problems. Tough trucks. We haul alot of heavy loads too.

I bought a 2004 Chevy Silverado Z71 Ext. cab 4 door this past summer and i love it. Plenty of room for hauling around me and my buddies for fishing trips, etc. I havent pulled a boat with it yet but i have pulled a 14′ or so enclosed trailer to mankato and it pulled great. I must add that i am partial to Chevys… , but no matter what choice you make now is a great time to buy a truck.

Ford F-150 I have 130,000 on mine and plan on getting another one when this one goes. Never had a problem with the 2 that I have owned and both have been over 100,000 miles with plenty of life yet. Tow a boat and 4 place snowmobile trailer great.

Cant beat a pickup for a sportsman. A topper on the back is the most useful in my opinion. The 4-door trucks would be nice for family. I went from a Tahoe to an extended cab pickup and will never look back.

If you ever plan on using a slide-in truck camper do yourself a favor and get a LONG box. Those little tiny boxes they put on trucks these days are worthless, barely room for a case of beer and your wife’s purse.

07 tundra 4 door 5.7 I use it for work and pleasure 14 to 16 miles a gallon. The 07 has been a good truck. I had an 06 tundra and it had tranny problems ( 2 trannys in 36k miles)

I’m not sure I’d buy another extended cab, 4 fullsized doors with a 6.5′ box is where it’s at IMHO. I kind feel like kicking myself for the extended cab on my truck, but I don’t think I could’ve imagine where I am today 8 years ago.

Think crew cab…. Bite the bullet up front you’ll not regret it.

Can’t believe you bought another one, To many trucks on the market to give them a second and third chance… 2 cents

My last 2 trucks have been F-150 FX4’s. I’ve had a few problems with the 4×4 on my current truck. Been looking at a new truck too and my next one will be a Tundra.

I’m a ford guy. But, I don’t care what you buy.

I will say, get a 6′ or + box! Do not settle for anything less. You will regret it more than you can imagine.

Whatever you do Broncs, don’t get a Ram, especially with a HEMI…. only cool people drive them…. Quite honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the big 3…

Current truck is a Silverado Crew Cab 2500HD. Previously have ext cabs, pony up to the crew cab, Love It! Ext cab is enough, but you would not regret the crew cab.

Good luck shopping, lots of good deals out there.

Buy American…please! With this economy you should be able to get a sweet deal. I have seen ads for ext cab 4X4 GMC/Chevys for $5,000 less than I paid in ’01. If both of our jobs weren’t so shakey I’d have another one right now!
I guess I’ll keep pluggin away with this one 130,000 mi. and counting.

    Ferny.
