Just thought i would show a couple of my bucktail jigs i recently tied. Thought maybe some others would show pics of their own bucktail jigs to get some ideas. I added a little flashabou to the top one. I’m still trying to get the collar to be smaller, but I couldnt find any collarless jigs at SW

    Nice looking Jigs

Remember when tying kids with deerhair less is better and you will keep your collar area small,as far as collarless jigs go … I remember sending you a PM about that. you have another PM

Those are some very nice looking jigs! And as far as the narrow collars go… don’t sweat it. I know a narrow collar looks clean and professional but it really doesn’t mean much to the fish. Focus on color patterns and the amount and length of deer hair tied on the jig before worrying about the width of the collar. You should see some of the “stubbed toe ugly” stuff Stewart ties himself… and they catch fish just fine!

Seconded. I tie jig collars no-where near as pretty as those, but man-oh-man do they catch fish!

Nice jigs. Ain’t nothing feel better than having that slab slam that jig you hand tied. I just started last winter and all my jigs proved awesome come spring.

starkj25, Listen up . take a pair of side cutters go right behind the head and “GENTLY” cut down thru your lead to the hook. Then lay the cutters parallel to the hook and snip the lead so you can (PEEL) it away. WOHLAH no collar..tie an anchor with thread on the hook approx. 1/4″ back and you’re all set. This takes out a good majority of the bulk… “Hairjig”
