If you don’t want to spend for the whole suite, I’d just get the application itself. Most stores have box copies, but you should also be able to get an education discount by ordering online.

Lastly, you can get freeware from openoffice.org

I don’t know if this is just for universities or also high school…But this may work for you or anybody else who is eligible and interested. I picked this up last year off a tip from a guy who I go to grad school with who works at Microsoft. They have an offer to get Office Ultimate 2007 for…$59.95. that is a bit of a savings.

Don’t waste your money on microsoft office. Use Open Office instead – it’s free. Very similar menus and functions as MS office and you can save files as MS office file types.

I don’t know if this situation still exists…find a student on the RCTC/Winona State/UofM campus. Their bookstore had Office cheap cheap with a valid student ID. No Manuals, but you can get anything you need online.

Yeah, find any college student and they can get Office for next to nothing from their IT department.

Steve: I got the Office Home and Student version for my son for about $70 online. Hard copy delivered not a download. Covers everything for him so far.
