Traveling to Mexico next Fri. and was wondering if anyone had any tips for fishing in this area. About 20 miles south of Cancun. Are you better off trying to find a person at the pier or just book one through the resort? Never been to Mexico so any travel tips would be good too! Thanks. 
I have fished south of Cancun twice in the last five years or so. I went out with a local in a small boat the first time and in a large boat (38 footer) the second. In all honesty I enjoyed the small boat and local (who did not speak english) much more. The larger outfit (guide service) was good, but just did not seam like they tried as hard to get on the fish. That said, I would go either route again, you will catch fish either way and it is a blast.
Don’t pay their asking price ever, you can wheel and deal on fishing prices as well.
