Fished out of Oak Island Lodge the January 23,24 and the 25th,wow was it cold! 30 below every morning and windy too. However, the ice houses were toasty warm and the walleyes were very cooperative.Ten of us fished for two days and caught our limit of eyes each day. We had two awesome fish fries, wow theres nothing like fresh walleyes.Four of us stayed and fihed Sunday. We were the only ones fishing and again the walleyes were very cooperative as we caught our limit and releaesd several slot fish. The saugers weren’t as abundant but we had around 40. A bonus was the 30-40 jumbo perch mixed in.Our baits of choice were swedish pimples, gold jigs tipped with a minnow. One of my favorite baits was the chubby darter which caught all species of fish. Some times I would dead stick the chubby and the fish would come of the bottom and just smack it. It was a great time with friends as we enjoyed a few days away from the grinde of life! I would recommend Oak Island Lodge to anyone. Our biggest fish was 25.5″
