SnoBear questions

I have a few friends that are partners in a camp. They are considering a sno-bear purchase for the camp. It really got me wondering, as I will benefit from getting to be a guest there on occasion!

    1) how is the mileage on one of these machines? I see they have a 14 gallon tank – what range do they get?

    2) Anybody ever have one stuck? scary thought.

    3) How effective of an actual fishing rig are these?

You could call George at Hunters also. He has two I believe this year. I got lucky and was able to ride in his 1st one. What fun. I can’t imagine if you got it stuck though. I think I’d be more concerned with the track freezing up on years like this with lots of slush to deal with. We didn’t actually fish, just went for a joyride, so I can’t comment on fishability.

From what I’ve heard – even when you’re fishing, you can’t comment on fishability much………

Okay – I’ll go back and lay by my dish….

I remember talking to Bobber about fishing from one. He basically equated it to fishing from a boat and the more guys in it it becomes a little more crowded. He could basically go all over the lake.

Speaking of Bobber….I havent seen him around here lately Bobber, where art thou?

Three people in bear is pretty comfortable,….no more than that though. There are issues with the drop down system. When ice builds up through travel, it needs to be removed before going into drop down mode or else the build up will bend folding structural members within the “drop down system. Slush is the big culprit . I was able to go touring in one, even got to drive

During the Bass Tournament here in the Falls this summer we had one on display, and they drop down really awesome in 80 degree weather. No arguing how cool they are!! Would question the slush issue myself. I would think any tracked rig when piling through slush and then sitting still while fishing is an issue, but maybe they have that figured out. Are they still $40,000.00?

Hello All!! I will try and answer a few of your questions in regards to the SnoBear. You can expect to get about 80 miles out of a tank of fuel–that’s what mine is anyways depending on conditions of course. As for the slush question–I have had mine in slush but I haven’t been stuck in slush yet and let’s hope that doesn’t happen. In all honesty, I have been close to being stuck in there tho. They do go through it pretty good but I have yet to see a track machine be great in that heavy stuff. I certainly try to avoid the slush if at all possible. As for the going up and down question–I have not had any problems with mine at all and I leave mine outside just about all winter. I do go underneath and try to get alot of ice chunks out tho–I hear your point–If it’s at all possible to thaw those rigs out every so often that would be your best bet for not breaking/bending anything. The SnoBear will comfortably fish three and I have a canvas enclosure(fish house) out the back of mine that folds up tight to the SnoBear when not in use. So, I can fish 5 people in my unit. Overall, I am super happy with my SnoBear and I enjoy it more and more the more I use it! It simply is the way to go for me at this time.
You are correct too, the price is around $40,000.
I am heading to the lake right now so I probably won’t be back on here until tomorrow evening. If you have any other questions, let me know. I will be happy to try and answer them for you.

Thanks for the welcome guys–Glad to be on board here!

Just a little fishing report here as I don’t have alot of time–We had a group of 8 guys out today including the two guides–We started fishing at appr. 9:00 and we had all our limits of walleyes and saugers by 3:15 and we also caught alot of throw backs. No slot fish were caught today but we had some beautiful 17″-18″ walleyes! Alot of smiles on the guys faces today!

Kraig–I look forward to seeing all you guys again too!!
