Chris’ reports and enthusiasm have convinced me….I’ll be a guest in the “Daze fishing casket” for two days later this summer. First trip to Rainy for me, and I bet it won’t be the last.
Rainy is at the very top of the list.Winter, spring, summer, fall…..who cares!
Another top notch
Thanks Boys!! I’m just first hand infomation on up to the minute action. I live on the water “One with the fish!!” There is a big difference punching the clock, and turning a passion into a job. “Hello My name is Chris Granrud and I AM A FISHING ADDICT” There NOW I feel better. I remember my dad telling me that when I get older I would eventually lose some of the fever . LOL!!! There is something about fishing with people that still to this day has me finding it tough to sleep the night before my trips. Which is OK if yo fish the weekends!! Last year after 27 days straight of guiding out of the “Daze Fish Casket” I “Convinced” my customers to stay out a little later as the big walleyes were stacked up (THAT IS PASSION!!). Can’t fake passion!! I’m glad my excitement for both fishing and Rainy Lake is contagious!! Passing the Passion for the outdoors through Outdoor articles, IDO, and guiding are very fulfilling. Can’t even begin to count all the wonderful people I’ve met by simply sharing a day in the boat together!!

I’m a guy who has never fished Rainy and did not have plans to either. But the two shows from Rainy last week and this week have got me thinking I have to get up there at some point this year.
It is an angler’s paradise. And that Chris guy seems to be “OK” to spend time with out on the ice or in a boat.
When are you thinking about heading up and what species you going to chase? The ice walleye bite can be unreal. And then there’s Red Lake sized slab crappies… with no pressure. And ice out pike. And of course the open water walleye bite is out of this world.
So many choices.

I don’t know if all the reports and shows are producing great returns, but man they should. IDO needs a few more RainyDaze type guys in some other locations (not Mille Lacs and the river they already have excellent coverage)

We’re always looking to add guys with a combination of strong fishing and communications skills. Those guys are hard to find… but we’ll keep looking. I will tell you this, we’re awful glad to have Chris hanging out here with us.

One thing I have never done and would like to do and may be see a show on is Rainey Lake Crappies. I know it is a big secret but the crappies that come through the ice up there are unbelievable. Scott
That show is already in the works. For those that aren’t familiar with the bite we’re talking Red Lake sized slabs… and no pressure.
It was great to see an open water episode! You young fellers catching those slimers was a fun way to spend a half hour! Now if only you would have an episode about the elusive Pool 4 walleye
T-minus 6 days and counting. Hang in there, Rich! It will be worth the wait.
Ya know I was just poking at ya James I’ve had the day marked on my calender for over a week now but this weather is making the wait that much more difficult. You are making us all proud with that show young man—to think, we knew you when __________
Fill in the blank yourself!
Heck, you’ll be happy to know the next TWO weeks will be river shows. First a draggin’ jig show with Jason Halfen. We put the smack down on a bunch of big fish! And the week following Dustin and I are on the wingies for late summer walleyes.
Then the week after that we’re out in Milwaukee chasing king salmon on spinning gear. Talk about a RUSH! If you can imagine a 15 – 20 pound smallmouth on walleye weight tackle then you have a good idea of how those salmon fight.
Chris is living his dream! It is apparent in everything he says and does. His passion has its roots as a toddler fishing with his Grandpa Bob and has continued to grow! I know, I am his proud mom!

I don’t know. The problem is to make it worthwhile you got to plan at least a 3 day trip. Those are hard to come up with.
That’s why I’m on the river almost exclusively. It is almost literally in my backyard
I will tell you this, we’re awful glad to have Chris hanging out here with us.

No kidding! He has almost singlehandedly made the Rainy forum come alive. And his Mom likes him too!

PS I got to work on my “quoting” skills. Better than most journalists, however.
