They didn’t sell – yet. Sounds like that’s the only way the lights won’t be shut off for good. Owners want out.

Fishing/Hunting department had an excellent selection. I dropped my fair share of $$$ ever since I moved to the region…

what a great store. The people that work at the store are top shelf workers and went out of there way to help you. what a shame i hope that someone buys it. Anybody looking to invest in a business this would be a great one.

Wow, that really sucks – I really like that Ace in LaCrosse – that has been the only hardware store I ever walked into that sold fishing stuff.

Ace is the place! It would be very sad to see it go..The guys that work there have become friends of mine and they are all great. Its great when you feel you are on the same page with the employees. They treated me like I was one of them.. They would pull me in the back room to talk about techniques and play around with lures and such.
I have heard that there is a potential interested buyer, however he is not looking to go at it alone..hopefully others show interest soon..

That would be a big loss for the area. Besides being a very good hardware store their Sportland is very good as well. They offer things the “Big Box” stores can’t and, like has been stated, the employees are nice to deal with. I sure hope a buyer can be found.

So if they do go out of business, what our the other options when it comes to buying bait/tackle in the area of Goose Island?

Follow up…..Heard ACE was SOLD. New owners plan to keep store open. This according to the clerk that happily took my $20 bill in exchange for some top secret fishing tackle.
