Anybody have any good advise on a good family oriented fishing resort\cabin in Minnesota. I have two kids one 9 one 6. When I was a kid we went to Bemidji, and had a blast. Im know there are quite a few to choose from, just thought I would get some advise from someone who as been there recently. I would like to go for a week and would probably rent a boat once I got there. Any advise on best time to go would be great too.

This coming summer will be my ninth year with family and friends. More things to do with the kids than I can list. Great fishing and each cabin includes a 14 foot, no motor though.

The Red Door on the North end of Mille Lacs has brand new cabins and white sand beaches all along that end of the lake! VERY family friendly.

Have gone to two resorts over the last 12 years or so in northern Minnesota. Both places are quiet, offer good fishing for the kids and the owners are great people. The one we went to last year was called Iowana Beach Resort, http://www.iowanabech.com, which is located about 25 miles east of Cass Lake just off of Highway 2. The lake is about 1500 acres, has nice beach, lodge and cabins run between about 600-1200 per week. Brad and Brandy Wessels are the owners and will take good care of you and your family.

The other resort we week to for many years was Paradise Resort on Moose Lake, http://www.paradiseresort.com. Nice peaceful resort on a clear water 660 acre lake. Cabins are more expensive, but very nice. This resort is located about 10 miles east of Cass Lake and about 20 north on Hwy 39 (Scenic Highway). Wade and Mary Smerling are the owners and will treat you nicely.

Both resort are peaceful and on small lakes, which is nice for finding fish and fishing in windy weather.
    Good Luck

I will second Ron’s vote for Brookside Resort. I’ve been there a couple times and had a great time. If you time it right, Slider might even show you where to fish.
