I heard that tecumseh will no longer make an engine for ice augers (strikemaster, jiffy), is this true? It may be a blessing in disguise according to my dad and his 3hp jiffy. Also, if this is true, does anyone have word on who will replace them?
Back in early December the word was that Tecumseh was closing their doors Dec 31st. Just heard the other day they were filing bankruptcy, so they may still be trying to keep the doors open. Guess it put a big hurt on the sale of Ariens snow blowers as well, as there are no engines being produced right now. I’ve got one on my blower and have nothing bad to say about it…..
I have one on my powerwasher, with no complaints. It is a shame in todays economy companies lower their prices on parts just so they can get a contract on their product/component, so they can keep the employees busy and items selling. To find out at the end of the month or quarter they have lost several thousand dollars.
