Hi all…took my Marcum VS460 out for the 5th time (ever) last weekend and my camera doesn’t work. Monitor works fine, camera rotates, LED lights come on….but no picture. Contacted Marcum (now Naturevision or something…didn’t know they were bought out) and was told no more cameras…..obsolete..but for $200 I can have a new AquaVu Explorer.

Not sure I want $700 into an UW camera that is just an underwater camera…know what I mean? no light, no 360 degree rotation, etc.

Am I gonna have to bite the bullet on this one? Are there camera to be had out there? Any help is GREATLY appreciated here….I’m not a rich man, and this $500 bend over the table has me frustrated.

Thanks in advance…can pm me, post here, or email me at [email protected]

    Email Jon Marshall @ “jmarshall” <[email protected]>

I’m not sure what can be done, if anything, due to the fact that that line of cameras has been discontinued for some time now and there are few to no replacement parts available for that camera. But shoot him an email. No promises… but he might be able to point you to a solution.

Thanks James, Jon is the gentleman who told me there is no parts available and that I can upgrade for $200.

Gotta be camera heads lying in the weeds somewhere (i’m hoping)

Ironically I saw one on Ebay last week for $16. Not sure what it sold for in the end. That camera is gone now but others might pop up so keep an eye on Ebay, etc.

check the pins in the plug in the back .
the soft case is so tight on the unit that when you pull it on and off the plug gets twisted and the pins get bent.
I had the same problem with mine and had to flatten the pins with a needle nose pliers to get it to work
on my VS400 it got so bad I had to cut the plug off and hard wire it in

Ironically seems to be my luck James…

I did check all the pins…the camera is in perfect, brand new condition, except…it just doesn’t show a picture….

    Frustrating as all get out

I have another question for you James. None of my notifications has worked here for almost 2 years…how can I fix that? Everything is turned on in my control panel and whatnot (nothing I changed) but I still don’t get email notifications of PMs or topic replies that I’ve subscribed to.

Let me know if you think you know the problem.

Hey Derrick…I think James is still in the sack.

Back a couple years ago this feature was turned off due to the MANY, many emails that were bouncing back to the Ido servers. These came back for many reasons. Some folks changed the eddresses but didn’t change them in there Ido account.
I know of one ISP that was getting so many requested pm notifications that they thought we were spamming their customers. They set there system to reject any email coming from us. That took a few days to fix.

So, it a nut shell, that’s the reason the notifications haven’t been working.
