I saw one of them drink his own urin from a snake skin (that he ate a few hours earlier) after carrying it around the desert for an afternoon. I didn’t see an option to vote : No thanks

Don’t watch man vs wild, but I have seen almost every Survivorman, love that show!
From what I hear both are quality shows, but I prefer Survivorman!

Les is the man I love it when he films himself walking through a raging freezing river…. you know he has to go back and get the camera… Bear is alot of drama, alot of “staged” stuff I think.

Bear has nothing to do with survival, he does really stupid things, and has too much help from the crew.

    Survivorman does it all himself.

    Not a contest.

look on you tube for man vs wild fakes, it shows a bunch of video that bear isnt always in the wilderness. Hes just a couple hundred yards from the roads. Hes a total fake in my opinion. Les stroud is the man, hes alone and carrying 50Lbs of camera gear.

I’ll watch survivor man once in a while.

I’ll never watch the other show…last time I watched was the episode where he walked right up to the “wild” free range mustangs!! He said he “earned their trust.”

Not only where they tame but they were groomed and shoed as well! ABSOLUTE BS!

One has to be naive to believe his shows are real. He’s a fraud…

Ditto to the above. We call Bear “the what not to do survivorman”. Like running through the moutains in pitch black leaving his fire cause he heard a bear, jumping off a waterfall with out checking the depth, floating down whitewater in the cold (he had on a lifevest)cause it’s faster etc. One I saw he slipped and said the trout were placed there.

Bear goes for shock factor, Les shows you how to stay alive. Even my sister will watch Les but says Bear does some stupid stuff.

    Les Stroud no doubt!!!

Bear’s show has some entertainment value, but thats it.

Survivorman all the way. He has to do everyhting twice. Once for the shot and then a second time with all the camera gear.

You have to give the edge to Les. Maybe Bear has more experience, but Les seems like a normal guy. I can empathize with Les when he hasnt eaten in a few days and can almost put myself in his shoes. I cant do the same with a guy who just grabs the frist nasty thing he can find to eat. Do you see yourself eating something that has been dead for a while or something that you had to dig up in the first hour when you realize you are lost/stranded. Sorry, I just dont see it. Bear goes out of his way to do too many things.

Good post because I ended up watching Surviorman for the first time. I watch Man vs. Wild a couple times and thought the guy was being a little over the top and then I read about how much of it was staged. So I didn’t bother with Surviorman because I figured the same. They had a marathon on this weekend so I watched a few of them. Good show. I will watch more.

I do think Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs is in a more dangerous situation than those other shows. The fact he hasn’t picked up some sort of disease or infection is amazing!

I think Survivorman is more “realistic”, but the guy is just so over the top dramatic that I don’t really like his show.

Grylls is definitely more entertaining, but that’s also the problem, to much show, not enough substance.

I don’t really watch either of them unless there’s nothing else on.

I believe that I read somewhere that Les is hanging it up! The docs say that starving himself for a week, several times per year, is too much for his body.

Yeah, my Dr. said the same thing about me. That’s why I have developed this new body style.

I’m watching Man vs Wild right now. I don’t really watch either one of them, but this one, Man vs Wild seems sort of staged and unbelievable. He seems to do a lot of unnecessary things?

I like both shows and used to teach some of this in the Army. They both get too much help and would probably both die of exposure without a cell phone or crew. I think it would be interesting to drop them both an on Island and say whomever calls first loses.
