What a comeback by the Gophs!!!!

Tubby has put together a good team in his second year. I don’t care how this one ends, that was an impressive comeback to tie and send to OT.

    Go Gophs!

Great win. Its amazing how a coach can get a group of guys to believe that they can win and never give up. Hope Tubby stays for a long time.

How bout Westbrook tonight! Unbelievable. That move to start OT, shot and foul, unreal.

Clutch free throw shooting!! Great win. Great Big Ten game.

If the Vikes don’t hire him I wish the Bears would…I like Tubby a LOT better than Lovie…

Free throws!!!!!!!!!!!!!Its refreshing to see guys step up and make them. Big win. I am a huge Vikes fan and I think that Tubby could help them win atleast two more games every year just because of the attitude

Free throw shooting… How about the clutch 3 point shots in the end of the 2nd half to send it into overtime!?!

What amazes me is that the team that’s up (WI in this game) even let’s the opposing team shoot the 3 in the first place! If you foul them before the shot and put them on the free throw, they can not score 3 points there. Some coaches are starting to do this but WI chose not to and it burned them.

I have Gopher Basketball season tickets and thanks to Tubby, the Barn is really rockin again!

Next game is on Sunday at Northwestern (who lost to Purdue last night by only 2 points). It will be interesting to see how the Gophers respond coming off a big win and being a favorite to win on the road.

I agree with you Brad. As a Badger fan I about came unwound when they didn’t foul at the end of regulation. The game was about over at that point. The Badgers were back pedaling so bad that last 5 minutes of regulation they looked sick. I was suprised they actually made it close again at the end of OT. In the end it was a great game and I think this game will make both teams better down the stretch.

What a game, and I think deep down you can all thank me for this win for the Boys. Missed the start of the game by 15 minutes. Turn it on the Gophs are yo by 6… Then I started watching. Tubby and team kept falling further behind. Well I was wiped out, and could hardly keep my eye’s open. started to fall asleep, and they made a little run in the 2nd half. Then I woke up, started watching again…. and the fell behind by 10 or so… Fell asleep for good with the boys down by 10 and 9 minutes or so to go. As it went the reat of the night, I fall asleep, and the boys make a run. Only this time since there was no waking me they would not fall behind again.

So to Gold country, and the Badger b@$terds I say you are welcome!

Got to give it up to you Gopher guys, one heck of a win. Having been at the game last night, I’m still in shock at what happened. You did all the right things down the stretch, something that opposing teams hardly ever do when they come into our shack. Sets up to being a very competative Big 10 season, and that’s a good thing!

Wasn’t this like the 6 or 7 loss at home for you guys over 5 years?? ESPN said something about one of the toughest places in the nation to win.

Watched the game with my old man last night who is a Gophers freak (alum.) Like we were talking about last night. Look at the last 10 minutes of each game. Gophers are winning these games in 3 ways each game. 1. At the line Tubby is a freak about being consistant at the line. 2. Pass, pass, pass not to often you see them go down court and 1 pass and someone tries to drive to the hoop right away! 3. The biggest I think of them all. FRESH LEGS the last 10 minutes. They put the press on last night and Wisc. was lost they were all over the court and the gophs playing 10-12 guys a game they had plenty in the tank for the last 10 minutes and OT. 9 of the 12 players had more than 10 minutes playing time and only westbrook over 30 minute (33 to be exact) the 12th man had 6 minutes with most in the 20’s. Not many teams out there will go that deep on the bench for that long anymore. Tubby has made them believe in themselves it seems and there doing a good job so far with it. Now lets just hope Hockey can turn it around after last weekend with Lucia back this week! Ski-u-ma!

I agree with you bearplotts. It was a great game and I would have said that regardless who would have won and both teams should build upon it.

Couple interesting notes; the gophers went almost 8 minutes without scoring a basket and only score 22 points in the first half. Then they score 20 points in the final 3:27 to send the game into OT. I thought the play of the game was when the Badgers had the ball with 37 seconds left in the game and a 4 point lead, broke the gophers press and Bohannon went in to what looked like an open layup and Paul Carter came across the lane and made an incredible block. If the Badgers pull that ball back out instead and work the clock and most likely get to the free throw line, I believe it would have been a different result.

It’s actually only 5 losses Kooty since 2001. That is simply incredible! During that time they have won over 130 games at Kohl Center.

I had a buddy over in WI, send me an email stating that he wanted to bet $5 on the game. I begged for a point spread but he wouldn’t budge. So I told him that I would do it as long as we would bet on the same teams when they play in the Barn in March. That way I thought I at least could break even. Little did I know that I would be the one who is up $5 bucks right now!

I belive the record was 101-6. The Gophers haven’t won in Madison since I believe 1994.

I was so confused watching WI. It seemed like they put it in cruise control and were so nonchalant with the full-court press even as they kept turning it over. Not to take any credit from the Gophers because that was some unbelievable pressure defense and clutch shooting at the end, but the Badgers blew this game big time. It doesn’t happen too often that WI gives up a big lead.

It’s good to see the athleticism in the Gophers. The blocked shots, steals, led to easy baskets. And not just layups, some rim bending jams!!

I was initially skeptical of Tubby Smith leaving Kentucky for Minnesota. I questioned his motivation. I’m now a believer!

    Wow!

All everyone talked about was MS,Purdue, & Wi as players this year. From what I witnessed last night, they better add MN to that list….very impressive win!

I was very impressed that the Badgers could not match the Gophs intensity when they (Gophs) stepped it up on the press in the last 5 min. The Badgers play deep off the bench too, so I question whether that was a mental let down or physical. it seemed like Trevon Hughes kind of lost his intensity in the team game that the Badgers play so well and tried to take the game over a little bit when he is clearly not quite ready to take games over.

As for Tubby, I am glad MN hired him to get away from the racial existence in KY!!! Any or every body from down there said he couldn’t recruit and that he was a bad coach. That’s bull, I think!!! Can he win a National title in MN, who knows, but I think he can. He is given no credit for taking Pitino’s players to the promised land, when someone still has to take and mold those players into some philosphy to play and win it all.

The Big 10 is going to be something else this year. Can they beat NC a the end, we shall see…

That was the biggest choke job I’ve seen the Badgers commit since Bo Ryan arrived! We lost our cool, our intensity, the lead and the game.

Congratulations to a great finish by the Gophers squad though. Great intensity and defense along with some very timely shot making at the end. We just could not match there athletisism and intensity at the end.

Tubby Smith has done a great job over there in Minnesota. No doubt about that.

The level and quality of coaching in the Bit Ten has definitely gone up over the past two years.

If these two well coached, quality teams want to play another game…..I’ll watch. That was another exciting big ten game tonight. Neither teams gonna win the national championship, but that was fun to watch.

Congrats to the Gophs for pulling out the first sweep of the Badgers since 91-92.

The barn was rockin tonight! It was a very physical game. Did the refs look bad on TV? Ed Hightower has to be the worst ref in college sports history! The fans all around me were screaming at the refs all night long (maybe I was too ).

Need to beat Michigan on Sat and I think we will have a shot to get into the big dance!

They did look bad on TV! Hightower had a bad game. I wonder how many games he gets in during a week? He was in Iowa City the night before for Iowa/Ohio St.

Typical Badger fan response…have fun at the NIT. I would do some more research most analysts are saying the win last night was enough to get the Gophers in the Big Dance. A win against Michigan will do it for sure and if we lose to Michigan and win a game in the Big Ten Tournament we will be in for sure. I would wait a few days before making NIT predictions.

I was at the game and it was a great game to watch, minus the refs. It wasn’t pretty for either team but they played physical and it was a good game to be at.

Both teams were miserable along with the refs. I wouldn’t be filling my bracket with either of them.

    One game left.

Tubby has them going in the right direction, but they are a year off I think from the big dance. If they called fouls in that game I don’t know who would have won. Looked more like a hocky game than basketball. Good Luck Gopher. Sometimes if I can’t be out on the water or ice, it is fun to see if I can get a topwater gopher bite going.
