Anyone know anything about this organization? They sent a packet of information to my son. They want $12 per year for their magazine. I have not seen the magazine but the part I am wondering the most about is that they send you products to test out and you have to fill out and return a questionaire. Then you can keep the products. Might be a good way to try out some things but this just sounds fishy to me. I haven’t found anything that asks for my credit card……yet. The company is based in Minnetonka, MN.

    Thoughts??????

I was a member for many years and never recieved free products to test. The magazine was nice, just don’t buy any of the hard cover books. They were like $50 at the time and very hard to return if not wanted.

just like deertracker said DO NOT buy any books it is a nightmare to get them to stop, and even if you do send the books back, you may NO you will get a letter from a collection agency for the ones you sent back
I just went through that and it took 2 hours on the phone chewing to get it fixed
the excuse that I got was that they have over 1 million members and it is hard to make sure everything gets checked back in what a way to run a company
also the products they send are cheap junk ,all the good stuff goes to the life members

I asked about this a few years back…there were a few people that liked the mag….everyone said stay away from the books…and there was never anything worth while to “test”. I think for a while they were sending out a dozen hooks of some type.

Im a life member! I like the magazine! I think for the price it is well worth it, But stay away from the books! there are few of there books worth the money but you dont need to get enrolled in receiving them! just look at the titles and if something your interested in maybe buy one! dont let them send any! They do send out a dozen or so products a month to members to test! anything from tree safety harnesses to guns! but if your getting the membership thinking your going to get some good stuff! you will be disappointed! like they said over a million subscribers and onl a dozen products sent out! not to good of odds to ever receive anything worth getting!

again i like the mag and if you get the membership buy it for that!

    just my opinion!

JR, NO!NO!NO! Do not fall for the hype. believe me, I know first hand that the $12 is nothing more than a ruse to get you to sign up to #1. “try stuff for free”… B as in B,S as in S!!! The “FREE” gift to try is going to be a cheap Chinese made knife or set of binoculars fit only for the dollar store, the other “gear” you receive will be billed to you, #2 you will soon be bombarded with “offers” to become a life member – RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!Hundreds of dollars right down the toilet. At that point the books will start, and the return process is a nightmare. And if you lucky enuf to get something to try, well, the quality is just shy of the worst of a “blue light” special.

Believe me, I really do have first hand knowledge of how this outfit works- it is nothing more than a marketing scam.

one more thing IF you do get a letter from a Collection agency, chances are its just an office in the company,( they try and screw so many people they have to have their own in house) and they just try to scare you into paying
my wife did collections for years and when I showed her the letter she laughed and said they must have a hard time getting any money with that

I too had the same experiance with them. You don’t acually get anything and they will send you alot off books. When you return them you will still get a bill then a collection agency will start sending you letters. I had to threaten them with a lawyer to get things stopped. I think they figure alot off people will just pay the bill. I say just stay away all together, there are plenty off mags out there that are better than theres without the hassle.

Thanks to all for responding. My first reaction when my wife asked me about this yesterday was to just toss the stuff in the garbage. I really don’t like the fact that they send this addressed to my son. But my wife said that the magazine may be good reading……like we need another hunting magazine around the house! So I told her I would post the question on IDO and get some input. She has heard a lot about the site from my son and I over the years but now she is seeing the full power! Thanks again.
