Marcum camera fit thru 5″ hole?

I just ordered a Marcum camera and wonder whether the camera will fit thru a 5″ hole? I have an old Mora 6″ I could use but prefer the 5″ Lazer. I watched two guys struggling to get their camera back up thru 14″ of ice the other day – an arm down the hole doesn’t look like something I want to do.

Almost positive this should work. Whether it’s the VS820/825 or the VS380, the manta camera head has flexible “wings”. I’m guessing these still won’t touch the edges of the hole when in the center, but if they do, the flex should allow you to drop it and pull it up fairly easily.

im not sure about the size of the marcum camera, but my aqua vu camera will come up a 5″ hole. what you have to do is attach some line to the tail of the camera. that way when you get to the hole you can pull on the line and the tail or end of the camera will come up first. I used a zip tie about 2′ up from the camera to attach the other end. it works prettty slick because i have struggled to get the camera up at one time or another. hopefully this helps, dan

I woke up at 2:00 a.m. thinking about this. At 4:00 I worked out JD’s solution but not how I would actually tie to the camera. So, thanks for the info.

A Marcum Manta camera is 4.5 inches wide from wing to wing. So as long as your 5″ hole hasn’t frozen in from the sides you should be fine.
