It looks to be official, Tony Dungy, is retiring. I’ve never given much thought to him before as the Colts are NOT my favorite team, lol. But not because of TD. Actually reading about Dungy’s accomplishments and commitment to family you can’t help but respect the man.

While no one could blame him for leaving football forever it would absolutely be a loss. I for one would love to see him come into Green Bay (Please, NOT Minnesota!) or Chicago and coach when the time is right. (In Green Bay I’d say the time is right.) The man is talented there is no arguing that!

I would love to see him go to the Broncos, but, he is going to do something that is much more worthwhile than coaching in the NFL

He is a class act. I always wondered why the Vikings can’t see the talent they have had, in Defensive Coaches over the years… & possibly doing something nuts like putting one in as head coach. Lets see… Dungy… Tomlin… and now I am sure they will lose Frasier as well…

I’ve been a Tony Dungy fan since he was on the Vikings staff. When the Vikes let him go after the 97 season, I wondered why they gave Denny an extension and let Tony go. The Vike’s finished ’97 with the #2 rated Defense in the league. In ’98, the only loss for the Vikes came at the hands of Tony’s Buccaneers. Our defense fell to 34th in the league. And every purple pusher painfully remembers the outcome of that very special season. We then had to watch Tony, take Brad Johnson, and build a Buccaneers team like no other before or since. Coach Gruden, after winning the SuperBowl with the Buccaneers, credited Tony for having built it all and that he just had the priviledge of coaching it. The Bucs faltered after that season. The Colts began to experience Tony’s impact and expertise. They’ve loved having him in Indianapolis……..and once they won the big show, I for one couldn’t have been happier for Tony, if I were a Colts fan myself.

If he ever decides to return to football, I won’t bet on the Vikings being smart enough to do what it takes to pick him up, but I’d sure welcome him! If he doesn’t, he’ll certainly be missed by the fans of the sport, but always respected for the man he has been.

One of the best, on and off the field.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.

Good luck Tony, but don’t be afraid to come back to the NFL lol.
