Has anyone used one of the REVO reels? I am in the market for a new bait casting reel and am considering a REVO. The other choice I’m looking at is the Shimano Curado. I have one of the older version of the curado, and it has been a solid reel.

Primary use will be drift fishing steelhead out west and pulling bouncers / casting cranks around here.

Any feedback on the REVOs would be appreciated.

I had a couple of bass guys just mention that reel the other day. They gave it a thumbs up! The Curoda gets great reviews here as well.

I have the Revo S from Cabela’s it is the maroon model, and it has been great! I have recommended it to many friends as well. There are other models as well, that I am unfamiliar with however. I love the one I have!

I have 12 baitcasters, and my Revo SX is my favorite one. I have only had it since early last year, so I can’t comment on long term durability, but it is certainly my longest casting reel, though I think it would be tough on beginners, even with the cast control on Max you have to watch what you are doing or you can birdsnest in a hurry. Smooth and powerful reel, I got another one for X-mas. If I were buying one tomorrow it would be my first choice.

I have fished the Revo STX the last 2 seasons and really like it. I’m also going to be trying the new redesigned currado this next year. I really liked the old currado’s but it got to spendy for the features it had. The new one looks like it may be a good buy.

I use the STX for casting #5 shad raps and the high speed SX for flipping.

I have a couple of Revos and love them. Theya re very smooth, light and extremely dependable. i would definattly give them two
I have not used the new curdado but imagine it will be as good as the previous model and that was is still a great reel.

This talk about the bass fishing is making me wish it was already spring.

I’ve tried the Revo, good reel, lot’s of guys love them.

If you get the Curado, there’s a newer model they recently came out with that is supposed to be a bit more like the old Curado, it’s the Curado E. I have the new Curado D, it’s a nice reel but pretty big. Therse Curado Es are similar to the old Curado 100s in size but have the capacity of a Curado 200.

My latest favorite reel is the Daiwa Zillion though. Love that reel, awesome braking system. Spendy though…

I have a Revo STX that I have used for 2 fishing seasons now and absolutly love it. Use it mainly for casting crankbaits for various species (walleye, pike, bass). If you are looking for a larger line capacity Revo look at the Toro that is coming out as we speak I believe. Once they are in the stores I might get one for some lighter weight muskie lures.

I own both new and old model Curados, good reels. I also own 4 Revo STX and one of them went kapoot about 1/2 way through last season. It does not cast nearly as well as it used to and the magnetic cast control knob no longer works like it should. It is not indexed anymore. I do fish hard, but have not dropped or abused this reel. I bought it new last Feburary. I am pretty disappointed, but not ready to give up on them yet. I just contacted ABU, PureFishing last week and will be sending it back to them shortly. Depending on how I am treated by them will dictate if I buy any more. The flip side is that I have had the rare problem with my Curados also.

Love my Revo STXs. I will agree that you need to be careful when using them. It took me three weeks to cast without a mess. They are smooth enough to throw #5 balsa Shad Raps all day long and not get tired.

    Simply Awesome.
