January 19, 2009 at 6:59 pm #739037I just talked to the Motel…..I took down the block under my name…but there are still more rooms left…and they will have the meeting room opened up for us on Saturday Night to hang out in !!
January 19, 2009 at 10:51 pm #739135I had my bags and gear packed and ready to leave, but it looks like we’re going to get some more snow Saturday, so I’ll be home plowing unless they change the forecast.

Weekly forcast leading up to the gtg
Looks like a possible stable pattern leading into Saturday. Hope the 25 degrees holds true
Either way,it sounds like ice conditions wont be a problem with negative zero temps predicted for most of next week.
Looks like wer’re going to miss the warmer weather by a day An arctic front is going to move in Friday night.
Pack extra antifreezeJanuary 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm #739704Could be a tough bite! May end up being more of a BS session around the fire pit with plenty of food and drink!!

Cabela’s sent a flyer out in the mail today (big surprise) for their Winter Clearance SALE. Anyhow, there are 2 pages of ice-fishing stuff marked down!!! For those of you that will be heading to PDC for the GTG, and don’t know it….there is a Cabela’s store on the north side of PDC!!!!
Now, for the part you wouldn’t believe
I come home from work today, and on the kitchen counter is this flyer I’m talking about, with it opened to the ice-fishing pages………AND………. ……..my wife says, “hey! If you’re going to be in PDC for the GTG why don’t you head to Cabela’s and get some stuff while your up there”
WOW! I pointed to the Lazer Mag 2HP Power Auger for $384.49 (save $25) and said, “like this”
She was fine with it, but I don’t think I’m in the market for one.
ANYHOW……..FYI……..CABELA’S HAS A HUGE SALE ON ICE-FISHING STUFF, AND IF YOUR GOING TO BE IN TOWN FOR THE GTG….YOU MAY AS WELL FIND TIME TO SHOP CABELA’S.
no!!!! I don’t work for them, just thought I’d inform about the sale, and the store in PDC!

January 22, 2009 at 1:52 pm #740235There lure on the wall is a little skimpy. They may have more in the back; so be sure to ask. The ice stuff is in the rear of the store and to the right. I bought my LazerMag a month ago and have used a couple of time and it is a great unit. That price seems decent. I paid more when I jumped in at the same store.
January 22, 2009 at 8:34 pm #740405I just got the rig all packed up and ready, just got to pick up a couple of things from BK, work for 4 hours, take a nap ’till about 9am and its on the road for me destination PDC

See ya out there !!!
January 22, 2009 at 11:34 pm #740465Going to throw in as much wood as I can in the back of the truck. If anyone has an extra sled for hauling, and or wood, I’m sure we could put it to use
Looked on the DNR web but came up empty, does anyone know the law pertaining to open fires on the ice? Does it have to be contained with a ring or similar? Still looking for a ring……..anyone?Also, little camp tables are always handy too
The chili is made and the truck is packed(sorta kinda) see ya Saturday
January 22, 2009 at 11:58 pm #740471I’ll have a snowmobile trailer to use for pulling stuff and people out onto the ice if someone has a wheeler with a hitch. It has a 2″ ball.
January 23, 2009 at 12:03 am #740473I have some seasoned split oak in the back of the truck and can the “cook” use some brats. If so let me know what brand ect so I can pick them up tomorrow. I was out this am also. Didn’t have the atv so I fished in the parking lot. I caught one Pepsi and one Bud can. I stopped at Cabelas and the lure selection is better but saw no boxes containing augers stacked near the demos.
