As I was filing photos yesterday, I came across a bunch that I would consider my favorites for 2008. Some of these are pics of family with nice fish and big smiles. Others are clients with their PB Wissota walleyes. Others yet are “unusual” pics, like Kevin’s Wissota tiger musky or Eric’s big Wissota flat.

What are your favorite pics from 2008?

Too bad the snoopy pole my 2 & 1/2 year old son was using has such a great backbone when he hooked up with his very 1st fish in 08′. Couldn’t even see it curl over. Nothing to do with the 7″ gill he did battle with. According to him it was a BIG ONE!

Here is the story and picture from my last tournament of the season – a great ending to a great year! (The story is copied from the Wisconsin Team Circuit website)

Four beautiful autumn days, with sunshine and temperatures in the 70’s, greeted the 52 teams who qualified to fish at Wisconsin Bass Classic-2008. In the seven years of Wisconsin Bass Classic, this is the first time the weather has been so consistent. In the past we have experienced temperatures in the 80’s, sunny skies, rain, temperatures in the 30’s and even snow. All in the same week.

This year the events associated with the Classic were more centralized. The pizza reception and registration/rules meeting were held at The Pointe Hotel and Suites, our host hotel and the weigh-ins were held across the street at The Yacht Club. Everything was nice and convenient. The staff at both host sites went out of their way to make the competitors feel welcome.

As is typical of this great fishery, the Minocqua Chain, the fishing was exceptional. The majority of the teams stated they caught a lot of fish through-out the week. The team of Steve Crotteau and Greg Kizewski were crowned the 2008 Wisconsin Bass Classic champions with a 2-day limit of 10 beautiful Smallmouth, weighing almost 30 pounds. This bag was worth the first-place prize of $6000. They also bought themselves in the Calcutta, which was worth another $715.

Fished with some new made friends along with old pals and family.
The June Mille Lacs trip was really the highlight of the year. The two lads are still chiming in about it.

The only few times I got out on the water with my daughter I caught my biggest of the year. The smiles and stories she told everyone far outweighed this fish.

As I look back at 2008 the most memorable moments were the outstanding pool 4/5 top-water bite for smallmouth. The bite peaked in August and resulted in a PB for several of my clients. The fish were so aggressive I had at least 4, two fish on one lure catches. My personal highlight was doing a Wabasha Area promotion with the Kent Hrbek Outdoors crew.

I can’t find the picture but I have one of my mom’s first cat fish caught up here in Anoka the Night before I took her on her sturgeon trip.

ok guys, here are a few of the ones that I cherish, the first group will be from a trip that I did through our church fishing group. we took out senior adults that have some kind of disability. one of the gals is concidered to be legally blind, we went out for a boat ride, droped down some slip bobbers for some pannies on white bear lake, we where only on the water for 2 hours. the group that the seniors came from was Kaposia.

the other ones I included where from a youth day event that I put together for our bass club.

No real story behind this image. Just a great moment this past spring on Mille Lacs.

This is from a trip my buddies and I went on, out to Lake Michigan for spring break. Just kind of threw it together, and crammed, literally, into a 16ft boat and braved the weather for 4 days. Got 14in of snow one day, and caught more fish than we knew what to do with on the other three days! Thanks to some fellow IDA members for help organizing the trip!

This was a 1/2 day on Milwaukee Bay before we left to head home!
