I spoke with James a little while ago, and he said he attended the high power challenge event…so I am not sure what happened.

I am sure there will be more to come…

Sorry we missed you. We where out there at noon. Rapped up by about 3:30. Some may of stayed later but it was starting to get a little blowy. Conditions where not the best for the show today but it still went. It was very interesting seeing how the different fish finders compare to each other. I dont want to bash anyones product but I can see now why Marcum was not to worried about putting these events on.

If any of you guys are on the fence about what fish finder is the best out there make a point to show up at a Marcum Challenge and find out for yourself.

I was there until a little before 4 PM when the snow started to really come down hard. What time did you swing on through?

    12:30?

Did you see the Marcum Red Pick Up with a sled trailer? We were straight out 1/2 mile from my truck…on the ice.

About that time I was giving High Power rides out to the guys with the FW’s snomobile.

As Brian mentioned we were out about 1/2mile right in front of the Beach. Might have been tough to see at times with the wind kicking up some snow, but we were out. Few fellas did come out to “kick the tires” on the other units. It was nice to run through the other flashers on the market. I learned a lot of valuable information today. If you have a chance to attend any of the Marcum High Power Challenges I would seriously consider doing so.

So what I have read so far in this thread is that Marcum is still the flasher to have, am I right on that? What did people think of the new Humminbirds?

I’ll have a full review with video up in the next 48. The conditions were horrible with the blizzard coming in on us but everyone still got a chance to do the side by side comparison on the various units.

It looks to me like Humminbird still has a way to go with its flasher. I wont go into details yet as James will most likely cover this in the video from yesterday.

Just cant say enough about how great it was to try the different units side by side and on the ice to see how they compare. Even learned a few new features about the flasher I have been fishing for the last few years.

Wish I could have made it yesterday. The wife’s morning plans ran into the afternoon due long lines and poor traffic. Needless to say, I didn’t pull out of my driveway until 2:30 yesterday. Not much choice but to fish locally.

Can’t wait to see your review James!!

It is going to be hard to fault anyone for not making it yesterday. The roads coming to the event were bad. Going home they were horrible with cars in the ditch, including police and security vehicles, every 1/4 – 1/2 mile along my route home.

I can be faulted for not making it! I forgot and I even drove less than 5 miles from there

Today I drove from Stillwater to Thorne Bros thought nothing of it till we counted
    18 cars crashed/in the ditch
35 Fresh Tracks in the ditch
Watched one suv change lanes and go sideways into the ditch

Could not believe the vehicle stayed upright.
    Wish I would have gone!

Calvin was nice enough to show me the zoom feature on my LX3. It was nice to see how this works on the ice. Guess I was so happy with just turning the flasher on and fishing with it I never looked any farther into fishing with the zoom feature. I also got to see the zoom feature and fine line on the LX5.

Guess Im not much of a gadget person. If I can turn it on, fish with and it works Im good to go.

That zoom is fully adjustable as well. Very easy to use…adjust for up or down the water column, and you have Zoom on one side and the whole water column on the other! Almost unfair!
