    Today… high of 36.

    Tomorrow… high of -6.

What a swing! Hopefully the heavy snows hold off and the cold temps allow us to build on some of the ice that is already in place across the ice belt. I do know the next couple days look like great days to be staying inside.

I’m getting ready to get some salt on the driveway before at that water starts freezing.

    Dean? How’s the ramps?

Perfect, I am doing some major work on my garage right now, so the boat is sitting in the driveway, getting dumped on as I type this…. good thing I threw the cover on, I wasn’t going to at first….

I was thinking the same thing. It just stopped raining here and once the temps start to drop it is going to get ugly, fast.

I woke up to pouring rain
That is never good for December ice.

This sucks! I was going to run over to Cabela’s for a pair of new boots being they have them on sale. Guess I’m staying put.

The water looks like a river flowing down my driveway….there are a couple good eddies and current seams to hit

The weather pattern around the La Crosse area is only going to help ice conditions. The snow on top is being knocked down and with the cold front coming, the top will get good and hard again. I’m betting creepers will be a must again by the end of Monday. Sure makes it nice for pulling the sleds

It just switched up here in the Albertville area. Went from a nice spring rain to sleet/snow.

Raining here as well with 35’and not a breeze yet. Will drop the snow level which is OK but messing the first ICE a bit too!
Hoping that cold front is just that and no snow. Good ICE, easy travel and happy fishers!
“life1978” your trip to Cabelas, thinking about getting a pair of those Cabela’s Predator Extreme Pac Boots, has anyone got a pair or heard good things about them?
It’s turning into an afternoon of football, and venison steaks, mushrooms, onions, couple of sour dough biscuits and maybe a cold beer!
Looks to be a great bunch of guys on this site, thanks again.

I was just thinking that the fish should be snapping with this front moving in. To quote my favorite river fishing buddy… “any big fish?!”

I made the drive to work from Elk River to Plymouth and the roads are getting bad. I can only imagine what they are going to be like tonight at 10 when I get off. Driveway has been salted.

I just talked to my bro who is fishing near Elk River and he said the water is running down his hole but the fish are biting. He borrowed my Explorer and my ice gear today so I’m just hoping to see it all back in one piece.

    Good save on the minnows
A ride like that can be tough on a 12 pack though

Big fish eh? Well depends on who”s standards you use!
Some nice low to mid 20 inch eyes are starting to show themselves in the reliable locations.Lets just say they arent exactly going hungry.

A mid twenty inch fish is a big fish by anyone’s standards. Or at least it should be. Thanks for the quick-report, Deano!

My first fishing opener (that I can remember) was on Browns. We (Dad and I) found some nice panfish in there and in Big Eden.

    Very nice lake!

Very light rain in Rochester, some pre-sanding and salting of streets is happening. Should be a mess once the temps fall below freezing later today.
