So for the past week, my car has been slowing going in the crapper…my brake lights (just the brake lights, not the running lights or turn signals) stopped working…now today when i go into school, one brake light is stuck on…even after i turned the car off. on saturday morning we tried replacing the brake light switch to get them working again but that didn’t work…this is on top of needing an alignment and two front tires…couldnt have picked a worse time to happe, about a day after i spent most of my money on getting presents for my niece and nephews…just needed to release some steam…feel slightly better now..

Hope your day gets better cb2! Have you checked your battery connections at all? My truck battery cable grounded out on the battery and was causing all kinds of issues for me with lights and the radio. I figured it out when it wouldn’t turn over a few weeks back. Took the cables off of the battery and saw that the negative cable was arked, cleaned them both and all was back to normal.
    Just an idea, good luck!

RAGE. I know the feeling all too well, trust me.

Since your light is staying on it can’t be a fuse. But one thing that’s happened to me before when it comes to tail lights is I’ve blown the fuse under the hood, instead of in the fuse panel. It was one of those bigger 40 amp fuses too. I never did figure out what happened, but it’s something to remember.

as far as my day getting better, i got into school and found out i only had one hour long class for the day cause 2 of my professors weren’t there . and along the fuse lines, i had checked both the fuse panel and under the hood and both were fine…i did get the light to go off today before work…i took off the whole light assembly and touched a wire in just the right way i guess and it shut off… i was told by a friend of my dad’s that it is the turn signal switch that is the problem…the part is in the mail…hopefully i get it soon before too much snow falls…

“i was told by a friend of my dad’s that it is the turn signal switch that is the problem..”

Could very well be true ,,since the BRAKE lights do run through the turn signal switch .
    Hope that solves your problem

well here is an update on the car, got the part in the mail today, so i took it right up to my mechanic to fix seeing as i didn’t have the right tools any way he calls me up a half hour later saying he got the part installed and…i still didn’t have brake lights…so i went to go pay him for the work he did and in the 5 mins it took me to get up there, he had figured out, and fixed the problem. Turns out all three brake light bulbs burnt out man do i feel dumb…oh well at least it is fixed now…thank you goes to the guys that helped out on here…

Good deal. One real simple thing to learn here, and it took me a long time to learn it too: always start with the simple stuff first!

I’ve had that happen before and not been able to figure it out. Those 3 way bulbs have more than one filament in them, and one may work while the other may not. Makes it a pain to figure out sometimes.

It’s always a good feeling when you have a big case of rage resolved!
