I am looking for a book of maps of the mississippi and was wondering where I can find one with good detail. I don’t fish the river much but my club and zone tournaments are there and I would like some to look at so I dont have to stand in the garage to look at the GPS.

The Us Army Corps of Engineers has one. The range is from miles 0 to 866. I think most of the tackle shops in La Crosse sell them( Bobs Bait, Ace. Mine came with a CD so you can share it.

Here is link for you to use:
http://www.mvs.usace.army.mil/navigation1/NavCharts.html
This book is a wealth of information! Last published in 2001 book runs $37.50 but, you could do this.Download the entire book in Adobe PDF
(It will take a while even using broadband)
http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/Documents/MissRiver/EntireMap.pdf
Now you can go through what pools you actually fish, orGo to: http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/NIC2/mrcharts.cfm click on the river map and just download certain sections and print out whatever pages you want!
The size of the book is 11 x 17 so if you can find a printer that will accomodate that size paper you could print out just what you need. Adobe will however print out whatever size you have available on your printer but you will lose some resolution.
Being able to study the maps on-line is a real bonus.
Good Luck,
walleyejohn
