For you older Redwing walleyes guys and sons will have to put your thinking caps on. My dad did some walleye fishing down in Redwing 40 to 45 years ago and he fish with a gentleman from Redwing I believe. I have 4 bucktail jigs that the guy from Redwing made for my dad. I believe he made them and sold them to other fisherman in the area.I have had them for many years myself and just keep them for old times memories of dads fishing outting. I guess it is a little bit of walleye history from the area. Walleyes have been fishable for a long time. A few years ago I did fish with one of the jigs and I lost it in the rocks. I have retired the 4 that I have and some day will picture frame them. Thanks for looking at them.—Hope the pictures made it–first time!!!

We use to buy them at the old Gene’s tackle shop. It was located on the back channel launch area. I think he still has a shop in Wisconson on the river.

    Pretty cool Jimmy!

My Grandpa is 95, and I was lucky to inherit early all of his fishing memorabilia. It now takes up residence in my knoty pine basement that is like “Chuck’s Bait Shop” from Grumpy Old Men. It is fun to just go down there and see the old minnow buckets, coolers, line and lures from days of old.

That style jig was fairly common when I moved to MN in 1968. I use to buy them at a Phillips 66 station in Hudson and go cast for walleyes from shore out by the RR swing bridge. I think they called them Wonder Dudes or Super Dudes, I can’t remember. Dang simple fishing compared to what I do now days – One pole, 3 jigs, and a rope stringer.

I found these in a garage sale in Columbia Heights 6-8 years ago. gt
