Good to see the Green and Gold return the favor to our friends to the west, 260 yards on the ground wow!!!!!
There is an old expression in prize fighting that goes “Everybody has a plan until they get hit. It’s how fast they get up that makes them a winner.”. Well the Vikings just got hit. Let’s see how fast they get up.
Gator Hunter
Hey GatorBoy! The Vikings got hit last week against the Giants. This week they got knocked down by the Packers. j/k
Hey!
I’ll praise the packers for the victory……..
I mean, look at this way……..even a blind squirel will find a nut once in a while!!!
Man oh man Farve is fun to watch what a rocket, I wouldnt want him throwing a ball at me LOL..
But Vikes are what 6 – 2
Whats the Pack ??
In the end all that matters is the pack beat the vikings in the dome.
Pack is 4-4. What was the Vikings record last year? You guys could be looking at another 6-10 season if they continue to play the way they did last night. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
The Packers were able to control the game by taking Favre out of it. He never held the ball long. He didn’t have time to adlib and make his stupid decisions. He threw down the field very few times. They put the game in the hands of their best player (Ahman Green) and did not allow Favre the opportunity to lose the game for them. Lets face it guys, Favre is nothing more than a mediocre quarterback and his antics lose as many games for the team as they win. I’m not saying he wasn’t one of the great ones but those days are long gone. Now when he rolls out and throws a shovel pass as he is getting hit who knows who is going to catch the ball.
My two cents.
Gator Hunter
How can somebody throw 3 TD passes and be considered “out of the game”? Favre was second in the MVP voting last year. It would have been his fourth. Mediocre? If you want mediocre, look at Fumblepepper. If it wasn’t for Moss he’d just be another guy.
Hey Lenny, did we watch the same game? The Viking and Packers played last night, you know .. “Farve is nothing more than a mediocre quaterback.”… Your lucky I’m on vacation or I’d……

And the Vikings beat the Packers at Lambo so I guess that makes them even
I didn’t see any of the post game. Did Favre say he was emotionally drained and start balling like a baby, and say sorry fella’s to the media?
That was my favorite. Our guys just run over people with there cars when they get drained.

With a broken thumb, he threw for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Some peoples vision is clouded by purple.
That game was won in the trenches. I like both teams and like both Quarterbacks. The guys on the line can make or break the QB’s. I don’t know about the Packers, but the Vikes should like the rest of their schedule until they meet KC.
The Pack are 4-4 so what if the Vikes are 6-2 who have they played that are any good.
Coming into Sunday night Favre was averaging 32 pass attempts and 218 passing yards per game. Sunday night he passed 28 times for 194 yards. He had 11 short throw and run plays to his running backs that totaled 95 yards. That leaves Favre with 17 other passes for 99 yards. He had only one 20 yard plus pass down the field to his receiver.
Like I said, Favre was not given the opportunity to give this game away. I think it was brilliant selection of plays by the GB coaching staff and it was rewarded by only one Favre interception and a GB win.
Zimmy, I guess even Packer fans can’t spell his name correctly. LOL
Gator Hunter
The one thing I enjoyed was looking at was Hovans stats for the two games against the pack, 3 tackles no sacks , guess he should actually back up his over grown mouth with a few plays. Does he still have that Favre jersey in his locker? it really didnt do him much good other than grab some headlines, this guy is all hype in my book- all hype all mouth team captain Atleast Warren Sapp backs it up with his play…….
Bigpike
A packer fan who likes Warren Sapp. That’s something you don’t see everyday.
Gator Hunter
Naaa I don’t like Sapp, though him and Favre have a very interesting on-field rivalry…..he would look good in Green and Gold next year I must admit (especially with our poor defense)
Perhaps with a broken thumb, Farve was not able to throw the long ball with any accuracy. I do not think that the recievers Driver and Freeman would have had that much trouble getting open. Besides, the running game seemed to be working well. One of the main things, was that the crowd was kept out of the game.
packers got a tough schedule ahead of them, but just remember favre played the whole damn game with his throwing hand thumb broken, Not to mention throwing one hell of a block. Don’t worry no matter how good your vikes are they always choke and blow it why? They might have talented teams, but that is about it great teams can seal the deal. or you could just be like the vikings and have potential. Favre is more than a mediocre quarterback, he is just going through a rough time, shoot as long as they win i could give a crap if he averages 2 interceptions a game, he always seems to find a way to get the packs to the playoffs. The vikings have had the most talented team in football for the last 4 years how many rings? none. That is right, NOTHING Bottom line Take away randy moss and the vikings don’t even have a team, and culpepper turns from a super star into a NOT-EVEN Mediocre quarterback and that’s all i gots to say about that
Hey a pass is a pass, a passing yard is a passing yard, take away randy moss and culpepper would be hurtin big time, there goes minnesota’s long ball, right down the tubes with the rest of their team.
Fret Bafre had to play a few years before he peaked. Take away Bafre and Green and what have the Pack got? You’re boasting team results but the Pack has two key players just like the Vikes. Until the team buys into the team, it doesn’t matter if you’re full of talent and on the Vikes or no talent and on Green Bay (……….poke, poke………. ……..), the team is what works……….and it includes coaching. I’ve seen the Pack produce their fair share of “chokes” under Bafre’s leadership too. In fact, what have they done since the Super Bowl coach left for Seattle? Championship hopes broke much like Fret’s thumb. Reggie White…………gone……….along with any more Bowl appearances……….
The Ravens……………won on teamwork. Patriots……….introduced themselves as a team………….and won. No standout “I did it” players. A team rose to the occassion. Tampa finally understood the gelling of a team. They’ve broken since………and I’ll put money on their failure as well.
The Pack haven’t got anything either except a few past glorious moments. Inconsistancy is even a prevailing characteristic of their history. The Vikes have put up division after division after division. The Vikes have been a consistant playoff contender for over 70% of the club’s history. Take away the Lombardi years and Pack consistancy is pretty dismal. You may have a few rings from yesterday……………but the only thing that matters is today………….and so far you’re being out produced……..AGAIN!
Oh……..and btw…………”my dad can beat up your dad!” ……………j/k! The “sports bicker” reminds me of little kids on a playground!
Now,now kids, lets behave. I have lots of Viking fans for friends, some were getting very cocky before this game. This post I started was from a Viking fan who wanted to bring Packer humble pie to a work feed Sunday night, thus this thread Viking humble pie. Its really a great rivalry, Better to me than the Bear/Packer rivalry that I enjoyed living in the SE corner of the state. Ofcourse Favre completely owns the Bears-not the Vikes. Good luck to the Vikes, better to the Pack. We still have a division title to defend. How about that Grady Jackson pickup…
the vikes can outproduce the pack now wait til the playoffs and if you can find a way to keep them from choking, let me know, because that are what the vikes are best at

I’m struggling here………….every team starts the season with one goal in mind……………the big game at the end. Now, if one team is consistantly closer to that desired end result than another, who’s doing the most choking? I’d rather have a team choke IN the playoffs than grumble about them not getting there at all.
Granted, the story’s all too familiar………..but how do you get excited about a team not even getting that far on a consistant basis? Think about the Lions…………Bengals………….Chargers………..these fans would LOVE to just get a team worthy of playoff contention. In the world of NASCAR it’s often said that if you run in the top 5 long enough, consistantly enough, you’re bound to have a winning day! I look at the Vikes much the same way. Knock on that door enough times and eventually it will open. When that day comes, I’m not going to dance on anyone’s face or gloat or anything like that. I’m just going to look at the Packer fans and ask, “Now whatcha got?”
H’mmm, what do we have?
We have 3/4 SuperBowl Championships.
We have the only publically owned team in the NFL, the owners are the people, not some tycoon who lives in another state and could not care a hoot about football.
Our home games are sold out for years to come, we do not need a large company to buy out tickets at the last minute so the NFL blackout rule is lifted.
We have 20 inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame vs your 6.
We have Lambeau Field, not some wimpy dome.
If the Vikes ever do win a Super Bowl, I guess I would have to say that it is about time, however I hope I never do see that day.
I just wish one team or the other would sweep and then the respective fans could claim bragging rights for the year.
Interesting sidebar. That game was viewed in over 8 million homes. Most watched cable show of the year. Who says the Midwest generates no national interest.
3 for 4 is returning to the “yesterday” mode. All that matters is today.
Ownership……….well hey………maybe more organizations should do it that way. Red cares about football………….just not in MN! However, I’m not in control of that and won’t use it as an excuse for loyalty. I can’t stand seeing stadium donation clauses on my tax form. I don’t care enough about football to want to “own” a team………….interferes with my fishing time! However, I’m glad I’m not forced to contribute.
Hall of Fame? Green Bay’s been around a LOT longer than the MN Vikings franchise has so lopsided inductees isn’t surprising……………..and doesn’t mean squat in regard to the game being played today.
Gotta give ya the wimpy dome……………..that I do! My butt doesn’t complain about it in December but outdoors has been a magical part of football and some of it’s raw essence is lost without rain and snow games! They cried when they didn’t have a dome and now they’re crying cuz they don’t. I have to agree on the dome point………….but where my team plays has no bearing for my loyalty either. BUT………..if ol’ Red ever moves them to San Antonio………..which the NFL probably won’t ever allow……….I’ll abandon them as fast as I did the “Dallas Stars” Hockey organization. I at least need them to be regional or I become fair weathered and the Vikes are closer than Lambeau is.
What we cling to every season is hope. Hope that “our guys” will prevail and make us proud as fans. No one differs in this. The only difference is in who. Through my years on this earth, I’ve been exposed to “The Pack is Back” and only had to wonder where they went in the first place? All my newspapers, TV, co-workers, etc., etc., has been Vikings, Vikings, Vikings…………and over my lifetime, the hopes of every season get based on performance. For years the Vikes could say they’d made to 4 Bowl games as Green Bay only had 2. 2 wins is a great accomplisment………….I don’t mean to degrade it………..but I had 4 seasons of “we made it to the big game” hopes. Then, tack on all the years of divisional championships and playoff appearances………..my hopes are lifted more often than my Green Bay supporting buddies. They spend more time knocking my team…………because that’s all that’s left come playoff time. When………..and I say WHEN MN finally gets it’s first Bowl victory, I will again reference years and years of cheering them to the game and through the game…………instead of “they’d better win………..they don’t get in the playoffs much”.
Few are the years that I don’t get to sit on the edge of my chair hoping this is their time. Good football must be played to get there……..even that far………..and no one can take that away either. I chose them when I was too young to be influenced by who’s doing all the winning………..and found plenty to feel good about, in spite of also sharing in their disappointments.
All this being said………….I LOVE THIS RIVALRY!!!!
