My first trip this spring I was on LOW on the Canada side and my Lowrance 520C wasn’t able to give me a bottom signal. With the help of a small local marina we discovered that the transducer had failed. The mechanics first question to me was; “Did you leave the transducer on over the winter?” I told him that I always take in the unit itself, but I have never taken the transducer off with any boat at any time. He said that Lowance has recommended to him that tranducers should be taken in over the winter. Has any body else heard this line of thinking? I was lucky, the marina had a replacement transducer which has worked perfectly.
Thanks,
John O
