I am in the process building a new garage 26×44. Looking for recommendations and why for what to use on the interior walls. It has 9ft. walls. Cost is a consideration, but not a “major” one. Drywall? Fiber board? Metal? Other? I am thinking 36″ of metal on the bottom, and 1/2″ drywall above that and the ceiling. Thanks in advance for the ideas!

Is your garage used only to park cars? or is it more of a shop ?Or both?

I will do some tinkering. Not much welding/grinding and such. Will probably have some family events in it due to room. Was thinking the metal on the bottom for moisture when washing vehicles. Suggestions?

A friend of mine went with the metal in his new garage. Very nice!

Drywall will be least expensive, I would suggest greenboard(moisture resistant drywall). You could also go with some pegboard for hanging items.

My cousin did his workshop with 7/16 OSB and paited everything white. Makes for a bright functional area.

It is called FRP – Fiberglass Reinforced Panels. The stuff holds up well, and would make a great wainscoting for the lower part of the garage. I would us it on any walls that may get wet, and go drywall above.

If this is a attached garage, please remember safety, and have a fire rated wall between the garage and house.
