    Line: 2

I would start by chucking everything in your windows temporary internet files. Have you tried this?

If you have broadband access, go to http://www.windowsupdate.com This will search your pc and provide you with a list of patches that need run on your machine. It’s wise to run this periodically. I don’t install the .net patches, but anything relating to security should be installed.

Thanks for the suggestions Dman and Waterfowler. The internet temp files were deleted and the windows update was installed, however that same stupid message still appears. Could it be a program the kids downloaded from the internet causing the problem?
    Other suggestions would be appreciated.

Sometimes errors can occur due to security settings being too high or how a comp is set up for accepting cookies. Check to be sure you’re accepting cookies and that your security level is not too high, although I doubt that has to do with the error you describe.

Hang in there and someone will have an answer for you.

    Next Mystery…

In the Entrance, when I scroll down to Current Treads, once in a while (like today) when I click on the link MYSTERY CONTINUES….. I get a page that says ACCESS DENIED.

I would like to know what I did to who to be denied access to these pages. Is this why Rivereyes looks the way he does?

    Hey Brian,
The reason for this is because your on the river side of the site. If you goe to the lake side you will never be denied access

Your Kidding Me! If I register on the lake side, it’s going to work….isn’t there a law …or an activist group against that?!

    Allow me to clarify…

You don’t need to register on the lake side. The forums are set up this way… when a person registers they’re assigned to a permissions group based on if they register on the lake or river side of this site. We have two main permissions groups: lake members and river members. River members see the “shared forums” + any river forums. Lake members see the “shared forums” + and lake forums. If we didn’t assign members to groups as we do, everyone would see everything all the time and we’d have an enormous and cluttered list of forum categories.

Members can “switch” their groups and be re-assigned permissions to see lake info when they’re river members by navigating across that imaginary line in the sand between the two sides of the site or vice versa for river members. Follow me so far?

Non-members are automatically appended to a group respective to the side of the site they’re visiting at the time.

And here’s where it gets tricky and a bit annoying…

We list the top threads on our entrence page and they are listed “site wide.” Lake members see links for river info… but they can’t navigate to that info w/o first navigating to the river side of the site to have their group membership modified.

Makes your head hurt, don’t it?

It does mine. That’s why I have a fix coming, I have it planned to be installed this coming weekend if al goes well, that will eliminate this funky grouping issue as it relates to being able to navigate to one set of info or another. Everyone will be able to get to wherever they want, when they want… no more “access denied” messages.

The change should be seamless and not cause any of us any noticeable interruptions in service.

I hope this straightens things out a bit. Glad you asked?

I would also try resetting your web settings to their default settings if you are not sure where they are at. If you get access denied messages, then your security level is to high or you are blocking cookies. Good luck.

I kept going to Start then Run and typing in different commands then rebooting the machine. Finally one of the commands worked. There are so many variables for script errors its just a process of elimination.
