National Geographic is showing how these cars are built, and the engineering that went into it. If anyone has ever wondered if US technology is still alive and well should see this.
    It is absolutely amazing!

WOW! A 7.0 liter 505 HP motor. Not to mention the dry sump oil delivery system so the engine is not starved for oil during high g’s. I bet the mechanics are going to have to have a masters degree in engineering to work on these things.

    I really, really want one!

That Z-06 is an absolute engineering marvel. I think one would look fantastic sitting next to my Mustang GT 500 KR. That I want.

Not to knock the Vette at all, because it is probably the most impressive vehicle to come from GM so far, but they did have a rolling start. If I remember right, the Ferarri was about .5 quicker 0-60, and slightly faster in the 1/4.

    So.

Just kidding! Hey, did you guys see the MPG stickers on the window? 15/24 for a 500 HP rocket on wheels.

Why does my 305 HP Lincoln Navigator only get 17?

Maybe I should start driving it like a Z06.

Yep, me either. It would get awesome mileage because I wouldn’t be able to afford to put any gas in it to drive it off the sales lot

You know that old saying, “Watch This”. Famous last words of many of my SD brethren.

Yes that is what I meant ZL-1 been awhile since I read up on this one and could not remember the exact name.

As for the millage the stick is key and I also think I remember reading that at 70 MPH the engine is only turning 1200 RPM’s.

In Indiana it was “Hold my beer, watch this.”

Gas is not what worries me, it’s the price for those tires

    Coming Soon: Corvette ZR1
Introduced at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show this past January, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be unleashed with a supercharged V-8 producing at least 620 horsepower when it goes on sale this fall. Expect phenomenal performance with a top speed in excess of 200 mph at a relatively affordable price of around $100,000.

And a nod to us Ford lovers…

Not quite production, but over 600 HP
Most every American enthusiast knows about the $42,000 Mustang Shelby GT500. Its supercharged V-8 thumps out 500 horsepower. However, today there are dozens of equally powerful cars, so 500 ponies isn’t much to brag about. A trip to Carroll Shelby’s Las Vegas workshop with your GT500 and $28,000 gets you a 100 horsepower boost. Congratulations, for $70,000, you’ve discovered the cheapest way into the 600 Horsepower Club.

Thanks for the Ford inclusion group Chris! But I have to make a couple corrections for you.

The GT500 actually cranks out over 500 HP. Some say 540 is what dynos show but I think Ford advertises 500 on the 07’s and 08’s. The GT 500KR is rated at 540 but I suspect will dyno higher as well. Shelby is a fan of the cheated HP numbers games they played in the 60’s.

Anyhow the GT 500 also sold for WAY above sticker. We have two on our show floor right now, an 07 drop top, and an 08 hard top and both sold for more than 20K above sticker. Same feller owns both and both are going to get the Snake package in Vegas later this summer. The guy told us the package will run 25k on one and 30k on the other. From there they get shipped to his home and will never be driven. Both cars are Grabber Orange and have all the factory applied stickers and plastic, none of which he’ll remove. Both cars will be over 700HP and the one is rumored to be almost 750HP! Still he’ll be under $100k per car with NASCAR type power. That he’ll never drive.

ETA: We also just got a 2008 Mustang Bullitt, black in color. This one is still for sale and let me tell you is sweetheart! Anyone wants it, message me and I’ll get you more details.
