Thanks for the ”heads up” on this. After you sign the petition and send it you will receive an e-mail that provides a short note that you can e-mail to your friends in your address book telling them about this and it has a link that they can click on to see for themselves what this is about. Thanks, Bill

There are well over 200 signatures. C’mon guys, Disney is trying to brainwash our kids that fish is not food.
We have the peta nuts attention as they are starting to infiltrate the petition with some vile and hateful language.
I have also e mailed Disney directlyand told them I will NEVER go there and NEVER buy another disney licensed product.
October 20, 2003 at 1:21 pm #279084Guys,
At the Minnesota BASS Federation meeting Saturday, the word was that Disney has denied any association with PETA and stated that PETA’s use of the Nemo (?sp) characters is unauthorized. Disney owns ESPN who now owns BASS. Also, if you look at the news source you will see it site that allows you to post you your information without verification. Lets keep an eye on this one. What is clear is what PETA will stoop to in an attempt to promote their cause.
October 20, 2003 at 4:09 pm #279107riverfan, what you state re: ESPN is true as per Bass Fans website: 10/15/2003 According to BASS/ESPN Outdoors communications director George McNeilly: “The Walt Disney Co. did not grant permission to PETA to use the Finding Nemo characters.” Unless something else comes to light, enough said on the matter”.
I have only one question to put forth on the matter. If we decided and publicly stated that we had won the rights to use a corporate characterization such as PETA has done, how long would it be before the corporations lawyers were handing us a cease and desist order?
I personally sought information from Bass Fan, no response to date. We waited a week before publishing the petition – to me sufficient time for Disney to present a statement.
The issue at stake here is too important to sit back and watch – take action, it’s up to Disney to make a statement of denial. Read the petition carefully – you will have a better understanding of the motivation.
October 21, 2003 at 2:13 am #279148The poster… I will stop eating fish…when fish stop eating fish…..
October 21, 2003 at 2:18 am #279150i don’t no about you guys, but i don’t think i’d eat either of those fish even if they weren’t my friend
October 21, 2003 at 3:10 am #279159I was going to say, doesn’t everybody have friends for dinner once in a while? But I won’t.
October 21, 2003 at 11:42 am #279172With such a dismal view of human existance, why doesn’t PETA have a serious attrition by means of suicide? If I had to believe the junk they express, I’d find no purpose in existance! There is a natural order, predetermined and established……….to think one can change it…….is to think we’re higher than nature itself. Truly ignorant, depressing, and beyond reasonable explaination.
October 22, 2003 at 1:56 pm #279283How can ESPN & Disney deny this? I’ve been told it might be a Pixar deal but Disney is sharing profits on “Finding Nemo”, that’s covered under affiliations.
October 22, 2003 at 2:21 pm #279287I wonder how PETA feels about this reaction to their propaganda:

October 23, 2003 at 3:45 am #279374Well here you have it, right from the guest relations people. No need to talk about this subject anymore!
Dear Brian,
Thank you for your letter.
Reports about Disney’s involvement in a PETA campaign are inaccurate. We are
not associated with PETA for any campaigns.Best Regards,
Aimee

October 23, 2003 at 1:03 pm #279391I wonder how long ESPN/BASS/Disney and other affiliates are going to stonewall this issue? They’ll have to come clean someday. In my way of thinking the longer this goes on the more likely the rest of the story will be even more damaging. The petition will run until March and the support is growing on a daily basis. Keep the pressure on.
October 25, 2003 at 2:34 pm #279569An open letter to Walleye Central Admin/Members, George McNeilly/ESPN and of course Disney. I am not inclined to include Peta, they don’t deserve the time of day.
It appears that some of the Magic Kingdom’s dust may have settled on a singular post to the WC-General Discussion forum ( Disney / Peta Petition ). Powerful stuff, if it can make a post disappear.
The internet carries a degree of content and agenda that at times might be suspect, in this case I’ll leave the conclusions to those who have had the opportunity to read the missing post and those others that appeared during the development phase.
I don’t take offense (personally) with the action that has been instituted regarding the above happening but I do think that adults have the learned innate ability to arrive at their own conclusions and children need guidance through the maze of information that confronts them from their parents, not third parties.
Now that I know the lay of the land surrounding this territory I will do my best to keep the information I post directly relative to walleye fishing and all it entails. The disturbing thoughts and more provocative items that I post will simply be placed elsewhere..
Thought for the day:
