I have a Mercury EFI 225 on my Tuffy. Last Fall I had some issues with power and getting on plane, and it turned out to be a fuel line airlock coupled with fuel separator issues. I took it to a shop to get fixed and they also installed new reed blocks.
Well I’m having similar issues again – mostly the air lock issue I think. I also have a kicker motor. Both outboards run off a single line to the fuel tank (with a T in the middle). Does this sound right? Shouldn’t each outboard have a dedicated fuel line direct to the tank?
Today I took the line apart at the tank and cleared the air lock. 225 ran fine for awhile, but now seems to have the air lock again. Basically, when the air lock occurs, there’s no power at all to get up on plane. Perhaps I should replace the whole fuel line and try a new one?
All thoughts are welcomed. Thanks.
