I was advised by a conservation officer in Brainerd today that they are going to start being more strict on the law stating you must have a whistle or a horn in your boat. To be honest, I have heard of the law before but never took it very serious. He told me it has been in the regulation book for a while now. He said that it is for emergency reasons and could save someones life. This conversation took place at the boat landing prior to putting the boat in the water, so I quick took off to Nisswa Marine to see if they had a “boat whistle” or a “horn.” They looked at me like I was kidding , and I couldn’t help but laugh at the whole thing. The guy told me that they had no whistles or horns, but that he will probably order some because he also heard that they were going to start enforcing this law. Well there you go….get your “whistles” ready for opener.
