I had noticed Marcums name in the Hudson paper about a month ago (I think) in the Circuit Court section. One of the local trucking firms filed a suit against Marcum for failure to pay several thousands of dollars of bills for their service. I wasn’t sure if it was just a bad business deal or if Marcum was having some financial issues. Regardless, hopefully they will continue to make a top notch product with the service to match.

Has anybody had any experience with customer service on any of Nature Visions other endeavours? Just curious if there is any way to know if the customer service will remain top notch?

Umm. I did with my Scout. I’m not bashing them in any way but their customer service does not answer the phone when it’s their “busy” time. The only way to work a service question is to leave a message and they call you back. Now this is an issue for many because what ends up happening is this: You leave a message on your lunch break or when you get a minute, they call you back when you’re busy.. Then you end up playing phone tag for a month and end up with your AquaVu in a box on the shelf for the rest of the winter.

    -That’s my real life example.

I don’t have any details, but there is always the possibility that Marcum will continue to provides their own customer service. When Johnson Outdoors bought Humminbird from Techsonic industries, Humminbird continued to have it’s own customer service division (which got a LOT better in that case). And even though Navico bought Lowrance, the customer service and other business still goes through Lowrance, including most of the same people who were there before the sale of the company. Now, I don’t know what is going to happen with Marcum, but Nature Vision would do well to keep the Marcum customer service folks in place because they are TOP notch. We shall see.

I just got off the phone with one of the key players with Nature Vision. The plans regarding the MarCum product line going forward is to change… little to nothing. The products will be manufactured and assembled in the USA using the existing infrastructure, all existing warranties will be honored and the existing level of customer service should not change due to the buy-out.

All the nitty-gritty details will work themselves out over the upcoming weeks and months but for the guy out on the ice it doesn’t sounds like we’ll see much of a change… if at all.

And that’s all I know for now. As more details become available I’ll be sure to share them here on idofishing.
