not the greatest and my interviews are kinda hoaky but here it is
The big one that did get away
With fishing opener just around the corner many folks are getting pumped up about finally getting the big one up on the wall. Many people are used to the tradition on catching the big one and bringing it home to a taxidermist and having it “stuffed”. “It’s a tradition” says Brandt Berghuis a avid fisherman “ my dad has done it his dad and his dad have all had there biggest catch mounted on the wall”. But what most don’t know is the bigger the fish the better the chance of it being a female. Female fish are almost always bigger than male fish, Making them the trophy fish. On the other hand they are also the ones capable of laying the most eggs for next years spawn. To salve this problem taxidermist have come up with a new way. All you need is a simple measurement and a nice picture.
You bring those two items in and they can custom make a mount to fit that fish. This way the big fish has a greater chance of surviving for the next years spawn. “yes they may not all live on a catch and release but it gives them a better chance than if you would catch and not release” says Chris Simmons and avid tournament angler.
