I just got back from a morning drive checking area lakes. It could be a very interesting opener up here if this weather doesn’t break. We have had lows in the teens at night for the last 2 days. Smaller lakes are or will be ice free by opener, but I’m not sure about the larger ones. As of this morning Whitefish, Gull and Pelican still have large amounts of ice on them. We need rain or wind or much warmer temps soon! The walleyes are just starting to run up at the stripping station on the Pine River. Could be very interesting in 12 days!! I can’t imagine that the larger bodies of water above Hwy. 2 won’t have ice on them on opener.
