Anybody have any good ideas on where to get a good deal or which brand of lifts to look for? We’d need probably a 3000# model w/ a 96″ width.

We were told that Prince does a lot of work with people on Mille Lacs, which is where we are (east side). Just did some preliminary stuff at the sports show and thought I’d put a note up here as I’m rarely let down by the know-how of the folks out there.

Sad part is we might not even be able to use one with how shallow it is these days. Ugh.

Here’s one. Not 3000LB but 2500LB. Looks like an OK one.

Mille Lacs Motorsports in Onamia also has docks and lifts. I believe they carry PortaDock products. Great family owned company, built in Dassel, Mn.

Nate, make sure and look at a vertical lift for your area out front on Mille Lacs!! will get you lower in the water and also above the big waves!!!The only way to go…….

I would also go with the vertical lift. I would maybe go with the wider lift as well. If you ever upgrade the boat you will most likely need it. Most boats these days will not fit on the 96 inch lift. They are to wide to fit. Try and give Hoot’s Sport’s a call. They will deliver and install the lift if you wish. The brand they carry is made by Beach King. My wife’s cousin makes them. They are a really good lift. Here is the number to call 1-888-983-boat. Ask for Matt or John and they will set you up.

ShoreStation aluminum vertical lift. Unless you are very lucky you won’t find a great “deal” as they hold their value very well. Craigslist is a good place to start for current ballpark pricing.

I kept my eye open for most of the summer and found one in a garage sale in the local paper. It was a Shore Master aluminum (not sure if it was 2500 or 3000 lb) cantalever style. The lady that had it for sale was smokin hot. We had to wait for winter to pull it across the ice to the landing. It wasn’t very hard to get my neighbors to volenteer pulling it out of the water for her in the fall and then picking it up in the winter. I paid 800.00 for it. As others have stated, in shallow water, a verticle lift would be your choice. Also make sure you go with an aluminum one. Obviously, you’ll pay more for a used one from a dealer than a private party. They are actually not too bad to move if you have too. They fit pretty well on a snowmobile trailer.

My neighbor bought a new Shore Master verticle lift (3000 lb) about the same time. By the time he bought the side rails for it, I think he paid around 2500.00 (without a canopy). All I’ll say is that xxd@^$&^$ is heavy.

Thanks, guy. And yeah, we’ve been looking at the vertical lifts as pretty much the only option for where we’re at. Shore Station is one model we’ve had quoted and if we guy a new one we’d give ourselves some leeway regarding width for possible future boat purchases … that is if our property isn’t one long beach by that point.

I have a 3000 lb Shoremaster vertical lift, 3000 lb, with an awning, carpeted side railings and battery operated motor for sale. I have a 95″ boat on it now and I believe the side railing can go wider. It was new in April 2003. You can call me at 612-424-9227. It is in great condition. Please leave a message. (Rod)
