does anyone know the regs. on the croix for keeping brown trout. I have cought a couple in may during the walleye season but let them go because I can’t find out any info.I know you would need a trout stamp.

Dose anyone know how far down the trout go in the river?
I have see one caught at the Lift bridge in Stillwater back in the early 90’s,
that was in the spring and have never heard of any others,
just thought it was just a fluke.

Every so often you’d hear about a monster getting caught at a dam by a walleye angler in pool 7 in the fall/spring. I always thought they got blown out of local streams during high water.

Check the reg’s book, in MN you may have a seperate reg’s book for trout fishing. In wisc. most streams that hold trout are classified 1,2,3 and so on, and that regulates what your limits are. There is also a blip in there that says something along the lines of “any unclassified stream that holds trout is automatically classified as a 3” and you follow that regulation. I’d imagine MN is not that different.

Wow I never would have thought that they could live in the warm water of the river, or are they just coming out of the small cooler steams in the spring and fall when the water temp drops?

I’ve had two rainbows find there way into my boat down in prescott. Both have come in the early spring.I’m sure once the water warms they venture back up to the kinny or wherever they came from.

Yeah…I think your trout were silver with a downturned mouth!
