    I know they extended the dates last years fishing licenses are good for is it to the end of march?

    They are good through the end of April, new one is necessary May 1st.

    If I want to fish pool 2 prior to May 1, can I buy an 08-09 license or would I have to buy an 07-08?

    I only fished in MN once last year and I bought a short term license.

    The 08 license is good. (They went into effect March 1st.)

    Before May 1, Both the 07 and also the 08 licence would be good.
