Several of us are [were?] planning to come to Prairie du Chien on the weekend of Oct 11-12 from central Iowa. I wanted to fish for walleye and smallies Sat evening and Sunday am out of Prairie, the rest want to view leaves, etc. on Sunday as it is mostly a couples thing, and they could care less about fishing. I just noticed the MWC tourney on Oct 15…….I assume this means pool 10 will be an absolute circus the weekend before with practice fishing. I should have figured this out by the amount of trouble we had finding rooms. Exactly how big of a mistake is it to come up there on that weekend? Will there be any ramp access, etc?

Prairie du Chien has several boat ramps to choose from.6 of them that i can think of off the top of my head. I think the majority of these guys and gals will be fishing pool 9 so you shouldn’t have much of a problem if your planning on fishing pool 10 out of Prairie.

Fishing the Championship last year also, there are only 40 boats in the championship and tons of water, so you should not have to many problems. Boat launches should have plenty of spaces available also. Good luck fishing!!

I’ll tell ya, no doubt about a tough bite. Definitely the toughest I can remember at this time of year. Somebody was looking over us on the two lucky consecutive casts that pulled in the 5.5’er and 6.71’er. Tommy and I almost felt guilty as a lot of great fishermen where in the same location all day and did not get a bite. Why the two hit ours in a matter of seconds is something that we probably will never know. But, what a great feeling!! Thanks for all the nice comments!
