The Legistature commission on Natural Resourses has allocated $ for natural rescourse projects.
For those of you who know don’t know I live on Lake Isabel in Hastings Mn.
The lake is in danger of becoming a swamp. It is getting silted in more and more every year and getting shallower and shallower. Currently 4 ft. It was once 25 ft deep. The lake is a very good crappie producer in the winter and many people from all over the TC metro have been down here fishing.
There has been a movement to have the lake restored so that it can continue to be a lake that we can fish.
I am asking anyone interested and willing to take a few minutes to email the below address and click on the citezen imput form .
This has to be done by the end of the month.
Thanks to those that are interested in taking a little time and helping us out. http://www.lcmr.leg.mn/

    thanks

Done! And pretty easy to do, I might add.

Thanks for the heads up on that site. I actually added two other items that concern me.

    Chappy,

    DONE:

I gave them my 2 cents for what it is worth. I hear you on the lake. My daughter pulled a 1.5lb crappie out of there about 3 years ago. Then it became a mess and I haven’t been there since.

All, This is a great “back water” lake of the Miss. that needs help.

    Thanks Guys!!!!
Could you amagine what this lake would be like with just a little help.
Estimates are that it would cost 6 mil to dredge.and build a dike on the south end. Corp says no way to the dike. They want to retain the flood plane so we are looking now to just get it dredged.
    probably one mill or so.
Local pool that we use 3 months a year……..6mil
Fix local lake that we can use year round…….less than 3
Can’t quit figure that one out.
Hopefully with your help we can keep this lake in front of the DNR and get it done.
    Thanks again.

My dad used to take me up there crappie fishing when I was a kid. There are some slabs in there. It would be a shame to lose a place like that.

I lived in Hastings for about a year. One winter I was fishing with good crappie action I might add, and I heard a noise behind me. It was two school busses that pulled up. I don’t know how many grade schoolers can fit in a bus but it reminded me on ants on a ant hill.

I helped a few of the kids around me get set up, but before they came I looked into the hole and covered my head to see what was down there. Know where I was fishing it was only four feet then, but loaded with crappies. Once I had a couple kids start doing this, they were done fishing and most all the kids were looking down the holes with there jackets over there heads.

It was great fun….until I had to walk a heck of a long ways to find my auger!

Good luck with getting it dredged. I liked not haveing a dike on the end. After a flood, you never knew what you were going to pull out of there!

Shane, For some unknown reason this lake is extreamly hard to fish in the summer as it’s so shallow. Chappy342’s neighbor catches fish of every species down there and most of the time there big,You just can’t target 1 kind of fish in the summer. Much easier to catch them in the winter time. PM me and we’ll get together this winter and give’her a try.

    Chappy,

I will definatley give you a pm this winter. I love to ice fish and went out and got a nice portable icehouse for the job. I am looking at getting some good hours of ice fishing in this winter, if the ice actually comes in. but I will take you up on the offer of fishing.
